Well lots of surprises within
This thriller was packed full of twists almost to the point where I needed to take big breaths and check back to ensure that I was hearing it righ. Very entertaining though a few disturbing scenes

Contrived, obvious, unappealing and samey - yawn!
First off, not about the book but about the narration - it was super easy to realise who the killer was as though the voice was distorted, through the intonation and rhythm as well as some heavy handed tips.
It was one of those books which showed you a huge suspect - hinted that there was more to it and there was a clever villian lurking out of sight, unexposed .............. but then it turned out to be the obvious killer ... yawn!
Kind of an anti-mystery as we were shown from the get go who the baddie is.
Add to this some very unlikable and unbelievable characters, contrived events all set ridiculously at the BBC where the staff are all cardboard cutout stereotypes hurriedly sketched in - old people with body odour, alcoholics who carry round miniatures which they buy in bulk - um surely just buying regular bottles and decanting into a soft drink or water bottle would be a cleverer and more economic way to go instead of clanking round with a handbag full of tiny labelled bottles. Newsreaders who are "sacked" and sent back to be correspondents and although they are still going to be used as newsreaders in the school holidays (so quite a lot really) getting all bent out of shape, Detectives who are walking disasters with no regard for protocol or the law ........... the list drags on.
This is where the YAWN came in. I fell asleep as I slowly became more and more bored and disenchanted with this unlikable tale and woke up in the middle of some awful part about cats being captured and having their tails cut off.
Phew what a relief, this highly contrived, embarrassingly self-conscious and unoriginal book, which I was hoping might in some way redeem itself, just ran out of chances - back it goes, Adios!
This whole experience reminds me of buying a sandwich from a pricey shop, it looked good, it seemed like your sort of thing, you wanted to like it, but there was just no substance to it, ITleft a bad taste in your mouth and made you feel a bit grim afterwards!
Narration was fine, but just such an unwholesome and unpleasant listen, I feel like I could do with a shower to get the grime off!
Yuk and yawn.

Gave up after an hour....
I was trying to reserve judgement and get into the plot. Just about coping with the terrible narration, then came the "dalek" voice? So I stopped listening.

Did not see the ending coming
I'm normally good at spotting an ending and get a bit blasé, yeah totally wrong this time, had to go back and pay attention! I loved the fact I totally missed it. Well written and narrated

Far fetched tripe
Despite being a well written and structured novel, the characters are horrible. The ending twist is unbelievable. tragic things happen to the main characters but I did not care very much, as a listener/reader I should have but they had no redeeming features. There is also a slightly sleazy aspect to some parts of the book - what is abuse comes across as salacious. Contrived- every bad thing that can happen to a person does. Professional narration made it worth listening to. And in English, it’s “had got” not the American “had gotten”. Thought she was a BBC journalist? Oh and that’s another ridiculous aspect, her job and no repercussions. Just weird & glossed over.

An excellent whodunnit
I whizzed through this book because it really held my attention, with lots of twists and turns. It kept me guessing right up until the end. In a market so full of excellent police procedurals, it is really something to find a book that takes you by surprise. Thiis one ticked all of the boxes for me - great story, well plotted, full of believable characters, unusual twists, excellent narration.
I thoroughly recommend it.

Brilliant 5 star!
What a rollercoaster ride! Grips the listener from the start and keeps going - I loved it! Would recommend for lovers of thriller/suspense books. And the narration superb; one of the few books I think is better on audio. Definitely recommend.

Great plot, well thought out by the author and with the benefit of hindsight, plenty of clues along the way. Once we hear the final explanation, the clues come together and all make sense.
A refreshingly original plot, with the detective himself being closely connected with the crime(s) and not wanting his colleagues to know.
I loved the "creepy voice" of the killer appearing at intervals throughout the story. As listeners we're constantly trying to work out who the creepy voice actually is. (There are clues!)
Above all, I loved the author's writing style, so much more than a simple "who dun it". Mainly, it's about relationships. I'll be looking for more books by Alice Feeney.

Incredible
The story keeps you Guessing who the murderer is. The characters are all complicated with trust issue apparently and so this makes you guess who the killer really is. The story the plot the idea is really interesting and smart. I enjoyed reading it so much couldn’t stop reading.

The guessing game
I truly enjoyed this book. Every time that you think you have figured it out something is said that keeps you questioning your own thoughts. The narrators did a fantastic job in confirming your self-doubt. The characters were interesting, the one moment you would love them, the next dispise them! So worth the listen.

Expected something else
I decided to give this one the benefit of the doubt after reading the synopsis but it just didn't get there. It was not what I expected. The story starts off strong but after that the whole plot becomes vague. The start of the slippery slope because it completely lost me at the end.
I don't know if I'm missing something. This one just wasn't for me.
The narrators were great.
