Summary
You think he might be having an affair - do you walk out or fight back? A fast-paced, gripping psychological thriller.
Mia has her life in order. She is a grown-up and enjoys a grown-up's relationship with Pete. Not passionate or spontaneous but solid. She knows he is 'the one'. But then she sees a text message on Pete's phone that throws her world into a spin. It is more than friendly, signed off with a kiss, and Mia has never heard of the sender, Liz.
With her carefully mapped out life sliding out of control Mia will discover a side to herself she never knew existed, as she formulates a plan to win her happy ending. Because all's fair in love and war - isn't it?

disappointing ending
I enjoyed this book all the way up to the very last line...and the ending was such a disappointment...it just went flat!
Great performance by Georgia Maguire, as always.

Very entertaining
Well written, a little preposterous in parts but fiction is allowed to be, and well narrated for the most part.

Mediocre
Predictable and quite shallow story. Well performed but no depth to the characters. Easy listen but hardly a psychological thriller!

a good story but just kind of ended suddenly
I enjoyed the story and narration but I felt it was missing a last chapter. it just ended without ends being tied up, or leading you into thinking about where the story could go. Mia didn't confront her feelings for her male friend & it was a fair part of the storyline. just feel it ended before the story had a natural finish.

Loved the book but awful end
Brilliant listen, really enjoyed it but ended so abruptly I have no idea what the real conclusion was? Such a shame

Good easy listening, suspense thriller
Lucy Dawson's thrillers are usually about relationships and families rather than murders, always told from the woman's perspective. This is no exception.
In this book, our hero, Mia finds evidence that her significant other is having a relationship with somebody else. The suspense is about whether she will manage to get rid of her partner's other woman and keep him for herself. Mia starts doing things that partly make you think she might be a little deranged herself, and partly make you anxious to find out whether she will get away with it - not unlike a soap opera.
Towards the end, we get a few changes in direction, raising the tension somewhat as you would expect from a good thriller. At times though it did begin to border on a Whitehall farce. I liked the last couple of lines of the book. A good final twist.
Like Lucy Dawson's other books (White Lies, The Memory, The Daughter, Everything You Told Me), I found this held my attention right from the start and all through the book. It was easy to follow without too much concentration, not to many characters, but just enough to keep the listener's attention.
I wasn't conscious of any out-of-place mannerisms from the narrator, Georgia Maguire. On that basis I reckon she did a really good job. There are some awful edits in the sound though.

Laugh Out Loud Funny And Very Sad
This isn’t my usual type of book, I bought it in a 2 for 1 offer and I’m more crime and thrillers normally, but I really enjoyed it. It made me laugh out loud at times but I also felt the main character’s pain. I thought it well written and extremely well read, the narrator’s dead pan delivery was perfect for the funny parts. I particularly enjoyed the restaurant scenario, I’m sure it’s one most women will recognise!
