Summary

The top 10 best seller

What if your child's imaginary friend was real?

All children have imaginary friends. It's perfectly normal.

But when Georgina's young son, Cody, tells her about his 'New Granny', a mysterious friend from the park, the words send shivers down her spine. Georgina's beloved mother died only months ago.

Her husband, Bren, is certain the woman is an invention, Cody's way of grieving for his grandmother, but there's something in the way Cody talks about his new friend that feels so real.

Is someone out there, watching Georgina's family from the shadows?

Is Cody's imaginary friend not so imaginary after all?

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller with an emotional punch that will take your breath away. The perfect suspense novel for fans of Lisa Jewell, Clare Mackintosh and Jane Corry.

Not great, but ruined by narration

I was going to give the story two stars, but gave the author the benefit of the doubt, because the narration was so dreadful it would have made War and Peace sound immature and badly written. The story itself was ok, but it was written as if it was for children (which it definitely isn't). Just one example, from the moment the main character was meant to be terrified, "Swish swish, went her bag. Clackerty clack went her shoes." All sense of fear and tension flies out of the window at that point. In fact, this is a storyline that should have sold the book as a chilling thriller and psychologically tense. It was neither of those. It was humdrum.
