Summary
The second exciting book in the best-selling 1797 Club series by USA Today best-selling author Jess Michaels.
Simon Greene, Duke of Crestwood has been obsessed with Margaret Rylon for years. There is only one thing standing between them: her fiancé, who also happens to be his best friend. He is desperate not to destroy everything in his life by giving in to his desires, but when Meg and Simon are trapped alone together overnight during a storm, the resulting scandal not only breaks Meg's existing engagement, but forces Simon to offer for her instead.
Margaret is sorry to have hurt her family and her fiancé, but all she's ever wanted was Simon. Her determination to make a happy life with him is only heightened when they submit to passions that have long dwelled beneath the surface. But while Simon may give her his body, he withholds his heart out of guilt and fear of what a connection to her may expose.
And if he doesn't learn to fight for her soon, they both may lose a chance at happiness.

Narration is Everything!
This narrator was sooo bad I thought about stopping every time I listened. She spoke so slowly I kept motioning for her to speed up, as if she could see me. About 3/4 of the way through the book, I finally changed the speed on my device from 1.0 to 1.25. This distorted the sound some, but at least it no longer sounded like slow motion. I will never listen to another book narrated by Ms O'Farrell.

Can’t do it...
I was already annoyed in the prologue but listened for about 3 hours. It took a lot to listen to that much then decided no book is worth the torture. I’m sending it back. The narrator is slow and sometimes doesn’t tie a sentence together. The male voices are far from masculine and sexy. The characters were written poorly. Everyone knows they long for each other including her fiancée everyone except her brother. Both characters want to be tortured for several years just to make her brother “happy”?!?? If you want a book full of angst and every other minute calling one of them stupid then this book is for you. I just couldn’t handle it.

Great listen
I just started listening to Jess Michaels last week and this is my fourth book! With that being said this is a great series. I'm just mad that this is only the second book in the series, and I have to wait for the other books. Well worth the credit!

what a bore
Couldn't finish it in 2 attempts. Dumbest pair of lovers in history. Oh so loving big brother picks a husband for our heroine without do much as a conversation with her. The heroine is so honest and so close to her brother that she doesn't simply tell him that she doesn't want to marry the man of his choice. The chosen betrothed doesn't bother to tell the brother that he isn't all that into our heroine...this goes on for 7 years. The hero has loved her from pretty close up all that time but doing nothing about it because of love and loyalty. The book rolls down the stupid hill from there. The icing on the case is the narrator. All the heroine's dialog is breathy. The hero speaks with a nasal twang....insipid as the story.

Narration ruined the book
I love Jess Machels, but this book was hard to get thru because of the narration. She Sounded incredibly whiney. I had to stop the audible book and just read the paper copy. It was much better.
