About this listen

Damien’s new streaming career is in tatters.

With his play style now known to all and Aetherius’ older brother, Magnitude, gaining a stranglehold on high-level content, Damien struggles to maintain his relevance in the ever-changing world of Saga Online.

In order to regain his notoriety and fight back against Magnitude’s growing power, Damien must undertake a quest that is far beyond his level. If he succeeds, his occultist character will be changed forever.

Meanwhile Lillian has a mission of her own: to find a legendary sword that has the potential to finally bring Magnitude down.

One thing’s for sure, it’s gonna be hell.

enjoyable but takes a while to get into

I found the pacing of this book to be a little slow to begin with, and it was hard to get over the main characters teen angst but after you overlook that it gets quite good, the performance was very well done.

Bad tagline...

Having enjoyed episode 1, I went straight back online and bought part 2. Aside form the very misleading tagline (his streaming career is never 'in tatters'), I found this even better than the first instalment.

This time round we follow Damian's exploits as he both tries to fix some of the real life damage he did whilst on the run, deals with his new 'fan club', has to deal with the ever increasing issues of being a good guy playing an evil character and joins the fight against a rogue in game element trying to prevent progression.

Nice to see that Damian is put through his paces in his personal growth as well as in game - he is rightly taken to task for his understandable immaturity, but as with the first book he grows in both sides of the story.

Most definitely not wrapped up as in the first book and left (annoyingly) open for an as yet unavailable third round. I need to be able to carry on with this...

I think I like this game

It’s growing on me more. I’m impressed that Oliver got me on Andrews side -I didn’t imagine a universe where that was possible but it’s done now. I like the out of game content as well and I can see directions that a next book can go. Praise be (hehehehe)

Tricky one.

The in-game sections are brilliant the out game is sparse (which is also brilliant) male lead is a young lad no issues. But god damn, Lilian, what a deeply unlikable girl she is. I just found myself longing for her sections to end every time they came on. Her character aside It was action packed, fast paced and very enjoyable.

Great second book

If you loved book 1 you will love this one.

it was hard to imagine how the story could develop from book 1 but the author has done it really well, they have kept the real life side of the story and developed the characters both in and out of game which is great.

there are the occasional editing errors seem to have removed natural breaks when switching between characters but it is minor irritation rather than a deal breaker.

well read again by the narrator, top marks

looking forward to book 3 so get writing Oliver ;)

book 2 and i still don't know what I think

Well book 2 and all the caricatures in the book for the first 3/4 of it are annoying irritating children. But the final quarter gives you a good roundup as with the last book. Im not trying to give anything away so it's all about my take on the book but if the next one has the same level whining/annoying it will be my last.

Very good sequel and expansion of the world.

Ignore reviews that say there's too much real life stuff, that's very wrong was a perfect second installment to the Saga online series very interested to see where it goes from here. Worth a listen if you liked the first, I liked it better than the first.

As for the best reference in this sequel very easily, ...Here I am stuck in the middle with you.... ;)

Uncomfortable character development

All characters have had life changing, character building experiences in the first book. The kind of experience that matures and humbles you. These characters tend to yo-yo and sometimes completely regress into petulant children, teenagers can be insufferable but not to this degree. The story is still great and and the narrator is perfectly acceptable. Let's just hope the next installment mends the mistakes made in this one.
