Summary

“Why would a professional hockey player fly out here, seduce me, and then vanish again?”

I can’t believe I fell for a liar. I was an idiot. A blinded-by-lust, hopeful idiot who threw myself into bed with a sexy stranger, invited him to dinner with my entire family, and then woke up alone to a note.

I hope you can forgive me for lying.

Ha. Like that’s ever going to happen. If Beau French or Evanko or whatever the hell his name is ever shows his hot, bearded face in this town again, I’ll make sure he regrets it. To be fair, I practically threw myself at his crotch. And okay, fine. Getting naked with him was the first time I’d felt anything worth feeling since losing my little sister. It’s almost kinda nice to be fueled by the fires of rage instead of the numbness of grief. But I’m certainly not going to thank him for lying and then sneaking out of my bed like a thief in the midafternoon.

Thankfully, I have my older sister’s Christmas wedding to distract me. There’s no way he’d show his face there. Besides, there’s no excuse good enough to make me forgive him.

All the feels (and tears) for this holiday romance

Please do heed my warning on the tissues and feels for this story. Lucy wrote this initially as part of the world of hope falls series and it was re-released as a novella but you don’t have to read the series to get into the story. If you like lovable extended family, quirky heroine, peewee hockey and the shenanigans, this is a must read.

The loss of a loved is felt all throughout the book so if that’s a trigger for you maybe save it for later. Sophie’s narration was superb and elevates Lucy’s story. I have read the stories thrice before and I still ugly cried. Lucy tends to write girthy book so this is like a short story for her. If you have never read her books this is a wonderful introduction to her books. Highly recommended!

Wow!

I read the reviews and everyone compared this book to a Hallmark movie. I didn’t feel that way until closer to the end when I was crying over it. I love Lucy Score and this book did not disappoint!

Get your tissues

Great book but get ready to bawl your eyes out. Small town romance, hot alpha man. Not very steamy, more like a Hallmark movie.

Not one of the finest

The story was unique but for me lacked more in depth storyline. The story seemed rushed in the relationship, and heat. Not a typical Lucy Score book. I did like Beau's need to protect his sister and the reasons why, the pain that the Quinn family shared was raw and heart wrenching. This first book of Lucy's that left me disappointed. But it will not deter me from reading all her books.

Not Lucy’s Best Effort

I love her books, but this one could have been SO much better! The H seemed two-dimensional and it felt like she phoned it in. It should have been a much longer book to get where it ended up.

Still hits me in the feels

I've read it before, so I know how it ends, and yet here I am with tears freezing to my face as I walk the dog. Lucy Freaking Score does it again.

Heart of Hope

What a wonderful story! I enjoyed every minute of it. Lucy Score has absolutely done it again. This book is filled with so much love - it warms the heart. The subject of grief for the loss of a close family member, and how to accept the hole they leave behind is handled amazingly well. Wrap that up in warm and fuzzy romance with excellent narration and you have a book you will want to just sink into and never leave.

Heartwarming, beautiful, emotional story

Heart of Hope has long been a favorite of mine and I was so excited to get in on audio. Sophie Daniels has done an amazing job as narrator, it is simply perfect. Heart of Hope is beautifully written book of loss and love, full of emotions and all the feels.
Get your Kleenex out for this amazing poignant story of tragedy that brings people together and grows into an epic love story. I’ve reread this book many times, it is so wonderfully writte and has so much emotional content as well as funny and steamy moments. Definitely recommend if you love a sexy, emotional story!
