As noted psychiatrist Dr. Shelley Uram tells us, when we peel back the layers to reveal what we really want most in life, it turns out to be the qualities that are already present at our very core - our essential self.

Worth a listen...
- By Richard McFerran on 03-11-19
Summary
Do you find yourself:
- Becoming so angry you have trouble thinking?
- Acting impulsively during angry outbursts?
- Getting so mad that you feel out of control of your actions?
If these strong, sudden bursts of anger sound all too familiar, you know the impact they have over your life. Over time, these responses can actually hard-wire our brains to respond angrily in situations that normally wouldn't cause us to lose our cool. These anger pathways in the brain can eventually disrupt your work, strain your relationships, and even damage your health.
Written by anger management expert Ronald Potter-Efron, Healing the Angry Brain can help you short-circuit the anger cycle and learn to calmly handle even the most stressful interactions. You will learn which areas of your brain are causing your reactions and discover how to take control of your emotions by rewiring your brain for greater patience and perspective. This fascinating, scientific approach to anger management will yield long-term results, helping you develop greater empathy and put effective conflict resolution skills into practice for years to come.

Great-ish
Really, glad I listened to this book, and I’ll probably listen to it again... My only meh-factor is that there’s a lot of “your amigdula did this” and “Your prefrontal cortex did that” only, I’m simplifying it for my sake as I retell it. Hey. Really, I’m game. I get it. It’s not all nurture, got some nature involved, but seriously, that was a lot of science to wait through the get the useful bits. . . Lots of those.
Guy really knows what he’s talking about. But this book was a bit heavy on the science. Maybe the second or third time through it’ll be less of a distraction. Honestly, I felt easier around others as soon as I started listening to this book. It’s a good bit. I recommend it.

Very Technical - At First
But stay with it. Initially I thought this was simply somebody’s thesis or dissertation. But later in the book the parts of the brain and the academic background starts to jell.
I seldom get very much out of a book like this on the first reading. I’m sure the second reading will be even more helpful.
Bottom line: I found the book very helpful.
