Summary

Dr. Izabella Wentz, the author of the phenomenal New York Times best seller Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, returns with a long-awaited, groundbreaking prescription to reverse the symptoms of this serious autoimmune condition that is becoming one of the country's fastest growing diseases.

More than 35 million Americans currently suffer from Hashimoto's - an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid gland and causes the body to attack its own cells. To alleviate the symptoms of this debilitating condition - including chronic cough, acid reflux, IBS, allergies, chronic pain, hair loss, brain fog, and forgetfulness - patients are often prescribed synthetic hormones that have numerous life-altering side effects.

But there is a better way.

Diagnosed with Hashimoto's at 27, pharmacist Dr. Izabella Wentz knows firsthand the effects of the disease as well as the value - and limitations - of medication. The key to improved health, she argues, involves lifestyle interventions. In Hashimoto's Protocol, she outlines a proven treatment that has helped thousands heal and many others feel better - in as fast as 90 days.

Drawing on her own personal experience as well as her work consulting with thousands of patients, Hashimoto's Protocol offers a practical pathway for healing and reversing the autoimmune damage at the root of the disease. The first step is a quick-start two-week detox that includes foods to eat and inflammatory foods to avoid, advice on supplements to support the liver, and an adrenal recovery plan. Next, listeners create a personalized plan with foods, supplements, and other lifestyle interventions tailored to their bodies' own unique Hashimoto's triggers, which they can identify using self-tests included in the book. Hashimoto's Protocol also features original recipes.

Grounded in the latest science, Hashimoto's Protocol is the first book to offer a proven protocol by an acknowledged expert in the field to treat this condition without dangerous hormones - and help sufferers reclaim their lives.

A very expensive protocol to follow

I found the book really interesting, and don't doubt the effects of the protocol. I was keen but...it's just to expensive to follow. Not just the supplements but the food. Just the green smoothie alone is a lot of vegetables to buy every day. such a shame as it then made the book pointless to me as I couldn't afford to follow it

Very helpful insight

Very helpful book though I'm also grateful that my hashimotos is not as full blown as what the author has gone through. If you have to do the full diet it is definitely full on but you can eliminate ingredients one at a time to see the results. I've considered doing her programme as well though this book is a great start.

PDF isn't accessible on iphone....

Any additional comments?

Looked and looked for the PDF on my iphone 7. To access it, you need to be on a laptop or computer (not sure about tablet or ipad). Downloaded it and then sent it to my email and then downloaded it to my iphone using my kindle app. Hope this helps other people who could not find the PDF! It would be helpful if this information was included in the download!!

Great book, but narrated by Siri

I have not finished this book yet and am only an hour into it, so I gave five stars for the content because Izabella Wentz is usually exceptional and I can assume that this covers very helpful material. However, I am having a very difficult time listening to it. The narrator is the voice of Siri. It literally feels like I am having to listen to a computer generated book, even though it is an actual person. I just wished I would have realized this before purchasing so I wanted to make sure others were aware of this in case it might bother them too. I was annoyed while listening to Siri read a book and my husband walked in the room. I didn't say anything and he went nuts and made me turn it off. He told me he couldn't handle listening to it.

Great book with a lot of useful information but...

The person who reads it sounds like a robot and I find myself checking out. I wish Dr. Wentz was the one reading it OR that a better narrator had been chosen for this book.

Terrible computer voice narration.

Couldn't listen beyond 20 pages. Needs a real voice. Choose the paper book or kindle!

Way to overwhelming

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Tone it down. I feel that Izabella kinda misses the understanding that this book will be read by the lay person AND the lay person with Brain Fog and exhaustion. Being a Hashimotos sufferer herself I am sure she empathises but being on the otherside now and without the brain fog she has "forgotten" what it is like to concentrate. I would have it written more simply and with options for those who are not DINKS and have money to spare on tests, supplements. I am skeptical that I would be able to find a Dr that would take the time to undertake a program that is out of a book, claiming the cure for Hashimotos. I will take on some of her advice but as a single parent with two kids, my budget just cannot stretch to all the tests and supplements.

What other book might you compare Hashimoto's Protocol to and why?

Medical War and Peace

What about Erin Bennett’s performance did you like?

Great, Erin was clear and entertaining.

Do you think Hashimoto's Protocol needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, a simpler version with less medical jargon

at 3.5 hrs. - still waiting to hear protocol

Keeps talking around in circles and tells her story over and over.
She gets to 4. and says "now for the liver protocol" then keeps talking
about other aspects. She has a 3 hr. build up
to explain that the protocol is liver, adrenal, and gut yet at 3.5, I havn't heard
a succinct layout. She should give exact protocols fairly early in a clear layout and then
explain the details and break it down. This would help people that already have some
knowledge. Wouldn't recommend due to the convoluted layout.
I imagine the book is managable. Most of the info. I knew and was looking
for advanced program. Very basic. Waste of money for me. Reader's voice OK.
