Summary

A number of true stories by Alan Jones Edwards about growing up gay in Stockport. He also recalls epic football (soccer) games, which he attended for all of his life whenever he could. His memory is crystal clear when writing over 50 years later. The author failed education, or perhaps more accurately, was failed in his youth but proved as he reached pensionable age that he had a real talent for writing.

Not many people can start university at 63 years old and graduate with a second class degree. He also fought for equality for gay men and lived long enough to see drastic changes in English law.
