Funny, sad, brilliant

Tremendously atmospheric memories of a boy growing up in a Nottinghamshire pit village. Brilliantly narrated by the author. Humour and pathos abound alongside a genuine affection for the working-class community

A breath of fresh air!

In these difficult times this book was an absolute delight.
The stories are warm, nostalgic and funny and evoke the innocence of childhood.
I found myself laughing out loud and, as soon as I’d finished it, I went back to the beginning.
I can’t wait for his next book.
