Beautifully Written and Narrated

I like all Anthony McDonald's books but this has to be his best yet. Tracing a transgressive relationship between two brothers and how it affects them and others around them, it covers a period of almost fifty years. The added bonus of there being a 'novel' written within the actual novel keeps the pace moving and is a clever 'twist'.. I didn't want to put it down. Although the subject matter may not be to everyone's taste, it is handled so well and without gratuitous sex scenes which I feel would have ruined the story. If this is the quality now of Mr McDonald's writing I shall look forward to more novels. Highly recommended! PS He plays piano really well between Chapters!!

Awful

I started listening to this book and saw no point in continuing. Sounds biographical and is basically about an incestuous relationship- I am so sorry that I purchased it.
