Summary
Book 3 in the Forges of Mars series.
Beyond the edges of the galaxy, Archmagos Kotov's great voyage comes to an end. Now, he must ensure the galaxy survives his success...
Listen to it because...
The terrible secret that has haunted the series is revealed, and sheds new light on the Machine Cult's eternal mission to retrieve technology, no matter the cost...
The story:
In the great black void beyond the boundaries of the galaxy itself, Archmagos Kotov's voyage has come to an end. He has found his quarry at last – the resting place of the long-lost Vettius Telok. But Telok yet lives, and as the brave explorators of Kotov's fleet marvel at the wonders laid before them, darker plans unfold. As reality itself is threatened by impossible technologies from the dawn of time, it falls to a small group of heroes to thwart an insane plan that could see the very universe itself annihilated.

narrator really kills the vibe
such a shame the narrator has no clue on the source material. making the Astartes sound like children with light soft voices.

Too grand a finale
The trilogy as a whole was rather hit and miss for me, with some great ideas and characters but what felt like a lot of filler. As a finale, this was something of a slog, particularly near the end. Again, there were some great ideas but with so many characters needing A Big Heroic Moment, it dragged on to the point where it was exhausting rather than exhilarating.

epic conclusion to the best admech books to date
This is the epic conclusion to the best admech series to date. Graham McNeil is up there with Dan Abnett and ADB as the best Black Library authors.

Terrible performance ruins book
I think this could be a good story but the reader has ruined it for me. His space marines sound like juves. his rouge trader sounds like a chav. All his characters sound like kids or like they have severe learning disabilities. when a character shouts the reader does a fake shouting style that is really grating.

Confused?
I had good hopes for this audiobook and was waiting patiently for it. However was disappointed in the characters storyline. I found the battles in data very unbelievable and it deviated from normal Mars lore. The Space Marines storyline was inadequate for a Black Templar. I struggled strongly with wanting to finish it as it seems the characters could hardly overcome their situation if at all. The most I got out of it was a potential villain who was insane and more powerful than a chaos god. I am not sure I would get the next one related to this even the main characters were interesting.

Lords and Gods of Mars should have been one book
Gods is better than Lords of Mars, it also has some really interesting major story point as well as some refreshing Eldar perspective, but the two books combined hold maybe enough content for one book. At least in my opinion.
I’m not a fan of the voice acting either solely because too many different characters sound the same.

A bit predictable, but love the lore it weaves together
The plot feels like a forced conclusion that contains little of the suspense and twists that were great about the first two books in the series. The characters have settled into their roles and all that's left is the play out the usual march towards the brink of destruction only to be saved by a newfound power. I do appreciate the number of ebbs and flows the plot took. However, when the happy ending and the general path taking you there seem pre ordained, the characters' efforts don't seem to matter much.
Maybe it's just a 40k trope. Overall I enjoyed the trilogy and am grateful for any Mechanicus oriented novels!

Crapped the bed at the end
Loved the first two books, and most of this one. The last 30-ish minutes of this last one was underwhelming. Felt like a forced set up.

An amazing finals to the trilogy
This story definitely picks up some of the slack that was found in the second part. The performance was amazing, and I was able to immerse my self into each scene. The book has left me wanting more from the author and voice actor’s work.

Pretty Solid overall.
mostly a great mechanicus story but the portrayal, or rather the voices, of the Black Templars was comically odd from the narrator. the voices he did for other characters though, such as colonel Anders, was perfection, so its just minor quibble really. over all good.

everybody's a critic
I love 40k, so it's getting 5 stars. Also, Graham's dope. Sometimes, to me, the prose was a little too purple, and the characters came off as puppets.
Still, I got lost in the story and think it's worth a listen. :)

Full of Action
I normally don’t write reviews but this last book in the series deserves my time. Almost non stop action or distress. First of all it was so eloquently written. I loved the word choice. I loved the way everything was described. My imagination really flew with this book.
