Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother. And that his best friend has a crush on me. And that I just moved in with them. Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

Soon, Moira is right at home, working at Waves Salon, making new friends, and helping her clients find new confidence. When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Bookish, brainy Lady Olympia Hightower should be elated she's marrying the ‘catch' of several London seasons. Her large spendthrift family certainly is! And yet, Olympia finds herself sneaking out the chapel window, in a mad attempt to escape her glorious future as a duchess. Virtue was never a virtue for Hugh Philemon Ancaster, Seventh Duke of Ripley, but even he can see his duty as best man requires him to recapture the fleeing bride, and return her to the bridegroom. But with every one of Olympia’s clever turns, he’s finding it harder to give her up.

Summary
Lucy Bowman would never have guessed that her best friend, Duffy McCready (of McCready’s Bait Shop & Funeral Home) has been in love with her since they were kids. Fear of rejection and his own romantic complications prevented Duffy from confessing his true feelings in high school, so he stood by and watched her wed Wayne Garten right after high school. Wayne had always been a cheapskate, so it comes as no surprise when he suffers a fatal accident while fixing his own truck.
Even as her family and friends invade Lucy’s life and insist that the new widow is too fragile to do much beyond weeping, Lucy is ashamed to admit that life without Wayne is easier, less complicated. After all, no one knew what a relentless, soul-grinding trudge marriage to Wayne had been. Only Duffy can tell she’s hiding something.
In need of a fresh start, Lucy asks Duffy to put his cabinet-building skills to use, transforming the town's meat shop into a bake shop. As the bakery takes shape, Lucy and Duffy discover the spark that pulled them together so many years ago. Could this finally be the second chance he’s always hoped for?
Once again Molly Harper “writes characters you can’t help but fall in love with” (RT Book Reviews) in this charming and entertaining love story.

I really enjoyed this book! It was great to see Duffy get a HEA or at least the promise of one with Lucy. I adored Lucy and thought she and Duffy were perfect for each other, I adored Lucy's son Sam too. The three of them really seem like they'll make a great family unit some day! I really hope we get more with the McCready's soon!

MOLLY IS BACK!!!
I LOVED this book. It's Molly Harper at her best -not taking the easy (obvious/typical/oft-used by others) plot progressions, giving us a heroine that has common sense, and having a really satisfying group of people and backstory. I laughed, and I loved that people grew (not just the main characters) during the story.
Those who love "And One Last Thing..." will enjoy this one.
Well done, Molly!

Assertive adult characters for the win
I love all of Molly Harper’s books, and this one is no exception. What I love most about this book is that the heroine is assertive, confident, and smart while also being relatably human. It is so refreshing to see a character actually say what she is thinking rather than the whole book being based on the silly and immature miscommunications that many romance novels employ as the challenges between the hero and heroine. The hero is also refreshing in his ability to talk about his feelings and not be some sort of emotionally stunted man-child. Finally, Gimme Some Sugar takes on the complications of second chance romance and complicated family dynamics in a humorous, warm, and realistic way that I really enjoyed. Highly recommend!

What's with the f***ing f-bombs?
I love Molly Harper's books paired with Amanda Ronconi's narration. But there seems to be more f-bombs in this book than previous books. I'm not a prude, but I enjoy books and stories without them. I hope it does not become a regular addition in future titles.

I had a hard time liking this heroine.
I love Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi, but I had a really hard time liking this heroine. She was just so prickly and standoffish and I thought she was overreacting to much of what she was being prickly with (part of that was because the reasons for her standing back from some people weren't given until too far in the book so it seemed like overreaction). I listened a second time and felt the same way. Not one of my favorites from Molly Harper. Still looking forward to more from her, though.

Duffy's story!!!
NUMBER OF HEARTS: 5
Lucy has moves to her hometown to grieve the lost of her husband and to raise her son in a familiar place and to pursue her dream of opening a bakery. But like any good small town Lucy will have to learn to deal with the gossip and a nosey and bossy mother in law.
Duffy McCready has always loved Lucy. She was his best friend growing up. But time, distance and both of them marrying the wrong people put a kink in their friendship. But now that Lucy is back Duffy will not let anyone or anything wreck their friendship again. Well except maybe himself.
As always I had the talented Amanda Ronconi read this story to me. I truly love having Amanda narrator Molly’s books. She is able to bring these characters to life for me. So much so that when I read any of Molly’s books I can hear Amanda’s voices in my head. I
YAY!!!! Duffy McCready finally got his own book!! I am so glad that Duffy finally got his book. I adore his lady love, Lucy! Lucy is a spit fire that give Duffy a run for his money.
I really enjoyed this last book of the Southern Eclectic series. It has been a fun ride learning about the McCready family. I can’t wait for the next book written by Molly and narrated by Amanda.

Molly Harper spins a good tale
I've read other books by this author. She creates unique characters. I like the story in this book, how it told of people who were attracted to each other but went in different directions, each having a bad marriage, then meeting up again years later. Duffy is a good guy. He's honest, and he's not a chest beater who is easily offended. There is no great misunderstanding where each person's ego gets in the way. These people know how to communicate and they do. They have made mistakes but are willing to work toward having a mature relationship even with all the not so pretty relationship incidents, like the stomach flu. Duffy isn't a storybook hero. He's a regular guy, willing to accept responsibility, able to apologize. As we know in real life-- that kind of does make a man a hero.
