Summary
Earth is initiated, and Alistair finds himself in a dangerous new world....
On a day like any other, an alien descends to Earth, unleashing untold death and destruction.
Alistair watches the live news footage of the carnage, his eyes glued to the image of impossible power made manifest.
The alien’s arrival kicks events into motion that no one could have predicted. Earth is prematurely initiated into a universe-spanning empire of cut-throat cultivators, beasts, and entities of ungodly power—all guided by a mysterious AI System.
The System’s first quest? Kill someone.
Amidst the chaos, Alistair must make a choice. Will he fight for the sake of power, or stand against the forces of evil? His decision alters the threads of destiny.
Separated from his family and friends, Alistair must find his way through a new world where power is obtained through conflict—and cultivation leads to the insurmountable Peak.
Whatever it takes, he will secure his own path to eternity.

Don't buy before reading through the .com reviews
Are you a 15 year old boy with a severe white knight complex? Do you like shallow prose and extremely overly dramatic narration? Do you support authors who buy fake reviews? (Click the names of the received for free and you'll very quickly see their just review accounts that spam positive reviews). If you answered yes to these questions, then this book is for you!
I mean good god where do I begin. The MC comes off as such a sanctimonious little prick it's unbelievable. The stats don't matter, the rankings certainly don't matter. Things just don't matter. But it's okay because he GRANDIOUSLY AND GRACIOUSLY SAVED A SINGLE MOTHER AND HER CHILD FROM THE EVIL JAMAL WHO WANTED TO KILL THEM AND THEY WERE CHURCH GOERS NONE THE LESS! (Also, the first act of heroism is saving a church going widow and her daughter from a thug called Jamal? How much more cliché American right wing can you get dear author?).
Anyway the MC is super special for having the moral fortitude for not wanting to see a five year old kid get it's head bashed in and thus quickly becomes the chosen of the most powerful entity in the whole multiverse. It's just that kind of book.
It's like the youth pastor version of Defiance of the Fall but with an author who is 15 years old and wishes girls would just give him a chance so he could show them how he'd put them on a pedestal and save them from evil Chad (or in this authors case, maybe evil "Jamal").
The only reason I've given it two stars is that unbelievable enough, there are actually worse LitRPG's out there, but I have a feeling that if I'd kept reading, we might have gotten to 1 star. I am however not willing to subject myself to that much pain.

Don’t trust all the reviews.
This is one of the worst books I have started to listen to on audible. I had to stop about an hour in it was that bad
it goes over the same thing again and again. it also contradicts itself, and this is in the first hour.
I feel l should ask for my money back.

solid lit rpg with great character progression
Good characters
Good plot points and set pieces
Good progression with unique ideas ghosts are fun
Great motives for why the main character does stuff while not being unbelievable and dumb.

Great start!
Reminds me of Defiance of the Fall. Very nice! Story and character focused and I liked the narrator as well. Just wish there were more books available so I could binge. :)

Staggeringly enjoyable
I enjoyed the character development and storytelling of this litrpg. The book was engaging and enchanting from the off. Full of tension, and progression that I love. The magic system involved with the dao was incredibly fascinating. Especially the fact that by the end Alaistar was still a small fry even though he’s incredibly super human so there is so far to go. The performances were good just not the best I’ve ever listened too! Thoroughly enjoyable, I truly hope there is more to come!

OMG! An MC who is not an idiot or sociopath!
I have been reading and listening to litrpg and cultivation stories for a while now. While I am a fan of the genres, generally what I like about these stories are the interesting and compelling concepts. It is not the characters that pull me in for the most part, often the protagonist comes off as either dumb, sociopathic or both. And if they are not either of those they just come off as meh.
However this is one of the few rare books that I can say I really like the MC. This character is driven by a desire to do the right thing and enact justice, but he's not stupid about it. So far I'm really enjoying this book and look forward to more in the future.

Didn't care for this
I was just about able to finish this with a whole lot of skipping and eye rolling towards the end. This book has a lot of problems, and Wisniewski's melodramatic and OTT delivery never helps.
You may as well ignore everything about the system. Despite the exhaustive exposition, most of it just comes down to pointless nonsense. There's no strategizing on his growth, and Alistair literally gets an item that basically decides for him. Stats come at you think and fast, and they stop meaning anything pretty quickly.
There's enough grovelling and terror to make me grimace, but not from incomparably powerful beings, but ones a few levels higher.
There's also a lot of teenage level pholosiphising. On the nature of Justice, Good, Evil etc. It reads like an author who developed their moral compass from watching shonen anime.
Finally, I just didn't care about any of the characters. None of them grew on me, especially Alastair himself, which was always going to make it hard for me to connect with this story.
I don't recommend this, and I'm mostly leaving this seemingly mean spirited so future me is reminded why I didn't like it so much.
P.S. Tournament arcs suck. ones that last half the book even more so.

Specnominal!!!
Oh man, what a RUSH!!! This book was amazing! I had so much fun reading, listening and “living it!” It’s been awhile since I have felt like I was trapped in the gravity well of a story! This new multiverse that the author is creating is beyond fascinating. The lore continues to grow and I can’t wait for more…! Then we have the plot weaving which better than most apocalyptic/System based litrpgs that I have read in the first book of most series. Then you have the characters! Especially the MC! Someone who I actually liked and cared about! Most MCs in the litrpg and cultivation series seem to have the common aspect of being kind of idiot, morally barren or just apathetic… makes it hard to like them… So it’s usually the side characters and/or the world that draws me in. I actually liked this MC for the most part.
He has a sense of justice, but it is tempered by intelligence and an ever growing wisdom. His relationship with those close to him is also deeper than a lot of other stories. He is also constantly developing as a person and a powerful being!
This book was a lot of fun and I HIGHLY recommend it! The action is great, the flow is smooth and keeps you in engaged throughout.
I know I’m going to almost go nuts looking forward to the next book…!
The narrator, Daniel Wisniewski is one of my favorite male narrators and he exemplifies his skill in being this book, it’s characters and heart of the story to life! He doesn’t just reads a story… He puts his heart, mind and soul into it! He is also one of the few male narrators that can create female voices very well without seeming to just raise it up and squeak or scream into the mic… Thank you Wisniewski for another great performance!
Thank you Royal Guard for this free audiobook for just simply this review!

A fantastic story
This book is great and Daniel kills it with an absolutely bombastic narration.
The introduction of the system is especially good and builds a solid foundation for a revenge-fueled series that could go the distance

Rushed - Not Great
The plot is okay. Narration is okay. Gave it a 3 because there isn't anything great here. Women are overly power women in here and there happens to be a great percentage of these power women. It is pandering at best. Would be nice just to write characters that are believable and real. The MC is a ridiculously virtue signaler. Didn't like it. People like him don't define a savage existence; the MC is the guy who takes over once the wilderness is tamed...

Fantastic story
I like this because the main character is always behind but finds a way to overcome his opponents and win the day and that’s what makes it good

rollercoaster ride of epicness
an awesome take on Western cultivation genre. the pace and amount of action in this title mixed with the way the author brings us a cultivation post apocalyptic earth litrpg was a great adventure from start to finish. a great start to what I'm sure is going to be one hell of a series.

Solid 4.6 litrpg
Not amongst my most favorites but certainly enjoyable and worth getting.
Now the story is completely it’s own even if there are similar tropes out there this isn’t like any one rather elements of a few or many yet the story is orignal.
The mechanics is much the same and I stand by it still being original it does have a mixed vibe of dotf whm and alpha physics. Possibly sprinkle in a few others. Either way the power gains though much alike as the above mentioned books it goes much faster in Ghost of the Truthseeker. In my opinion. If unsure if you’d like to give this a try simply click on my page and see the books I like and perhaps that will help you determine if your ready or prefer to sit on it a while longer.
It seems to carry all elements of litrpg. Class. Class style cultivation but there are added variants to the power progression.
DW is kinda a mixed bag of emotions for me as a narrator in general for me. I think it comes down to each book. For the most part I do really like him indeed, he does a great job here. Thanks
