About this listen

"And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat." (Leviticus 26:29)

When two cannibalistic, gravely wounded men stagger into the town of Gehenna, all hell breaks loose. Infamous outlaw Mad Dog McCall, stuck in the city jail, must fight for his life to escape. The lonely, intelligent, and snarky Karen must make horrific sacrifices to survive the night against the growing army of the dead.

Together, they set upon a journey of biblical proportions, fighting against the living and the infected, hoping against hope to find a safe haven in the middle of Hell.

The Old West can't fathom the zombie hoard that is about to consume it.

Cowboys Vs zombies

Think "The walking dead" set in the wild west.

I like zombie books, but good ones are pretty rare and far between. This is one of the good ones.

It's not big, and the summary is pretty OK, so I don't want to spoil it anymore than I did from the title. What I will say though is that it has a nice pace, vibrant characters (although because it's short they don't get a lot of time) and the setting is quite enjoyable and different.

Zombies vs Cowboys

This is my first experience of Jason Brant's writing and I'm hooked. Zombie apocalypse novels are a dime a dozen and most are poorly written. Gehenna is not. It's perfect pace, graphic descriptions and rapid dialogue accentuates the relentless nature of the situation. Far too often authors attempt social commentary with this genre and the flow of the narrative becomes bogged down. Not so here. It's rare for a novel to induce adrenaline reader/listener but Gehenna will get your blood pumping.

The voice of Robert Martinez is ideally suited to this Western take on a zombie apocalypse. His characterisation and predominantly gritty timbre conjures up the smells of whiskey and tobacco enhancing the overall listening experience.
