Summary
Tobias
My name is Tobias Spencer, and as a small-town boy from Maine, it was always my dream to live in Boston. I finally made it; I just wasn’t expecting for my bad luck to follow me from Millinocket and leave me homeless at the mercy of kind people...person, at the mercy of a kind person who I now call my boss. My hot, perfect, broody, kind, and very straight, boss.
Working with Harvey Breevort is the best thing that happened to me in this city. Working with Harvey might be the worst thing that happened to me in this city. I want him; I crave him. Maybe...maybe I even need him.
Harvey
Setting up Tobias on a date surely backfired; I wasn’t expecting him to like this guy at all. They don’t even look good together. I mean, he is attracted to me. He does his best to hide it, and even though it’s not reciprocated, I don’t mind that his cheeks get all red and flushed when I swim in my pool, which is why it pisses me off that he likes this guy that looks so much different to me.
Tobias should be consistent, right? If he likes muscles, then he should go looking for someone that looks like me. Not me, definitely not me! But he should at least...look like me. Shouldn’t he.

What’s before your eyes
I’m always game to try a new author. Throw in a new-to-me narrator and, of course, I have no idea what I’m going to get. This review has been tougher to write because there were things I liked about the story and things that I didn’t love.
This is a quirky love story. I don’t know if the peppiness is all down to the narrator, or if the book itself reads that way. However it comes about, this is a very upbeat story with quirky humor.
I liked Tobias. Small town boy, lost metaphorically in the big city, pretty much needing to be rescued. I liked Harvey. A man secure in his manliness but who also has a tender side. He brought Tobias into his home and gave the young man a job because, frankly, Harvey’s a good guy. What he can’t figure out is why he’s so possessive of Tobias.
The story took some interesting turns but when things get rough for Tobias, Harvey is there. Over and over again. We all should be so lucky to have a Harvey in our lives.
I got my happy ending which is always important to me and I have to say J.R. Pyfferoen is a good narrator. Very…perky. A cute read and I’d definitely try both the author and the narrator again.

Guilty Pleasure
Oh boy, where to begin. This is that kind of book that, even with all the flaws, is still enjoyable. At least it was for me. My main problem is the pacing, the plot is all over the place and it's kind of disjointed with many unrealistic parts. BUT, it somehow worked and got me hooked from beginning to finish.
The narrator did a decent job, it's not my favorite but it's not bad either.

Could’ve Used More Character Development
Interesting storyline with meh characters. OTT dialogue and characters pulled the storyline down. Meh narration. If the characters had been better developed then my rating would’ve been a 4 star rating, overall. The narrator used a childish sounding voice for the 24 year old Tobias. The voice he gave Harvey was fine. I hope, with more experience, his range will improve. He was able to stay in character and I NEVER had an issue knowing who was talking.
I see potential...

Gay Indeed
Bi indeed. This was a solid listen—a decent book with good narration. I liked a lot about the story but thought there were some missed opportunities to flesh out a little more. The characters weren't always likable to me though I did want their HEA. Overall, not bad, it probably won't make my go-to listen again list, but I have no regrets about doing so.

Well, Gay indeed
Tobias was on his worst day when he met Harvey, the handsome restaurant owner. It was kismet. Harvey took Tobias under his wing til he found his footing. Left without the support of his family and no ID, Tobias finds a lifeline with Harvey who is very straight by the way. I enjoyed that Harvey was so protective and even when he believed himself totally straight he was so jealous. It was a journey for both but worth it.

Amazing
An amazing story by Lara Hale. Tobias and Harvey have an interesting journey, a great couple although it took them a bit to figure it out, and both characters grow as individuals and as a couple. JR Pyfferoen did an amazing job with the narration. Hope to see more of Lara Hale and JR Pyfferoen on Audible.

His Hero.
Tobias left small town Maine after coming out to his family and not long after arriving in Boston finds himself in a bad situation, he is rescued by Harvey Breevort and soon finds himself crushing on him, but Harvey is straight..very, very straight! Fantastic MM romance with heat and bi-awakening some very sad moments and angst. J.R. Pyfferoen did a great job narrating.

Light fun and a perfect performance
I loved this story, especially Harvey and those conversations he has with himself about Tobias. He is so confused by his feelings and doesn't face facts for way too long, but not in a way that irritated me as a reader, in a way that made me smile, waiting for the inevitable to happen. Tobias was the perfect guy to bring out Harvey's protective side. He isn't a weak character, just a guy with a crummy family and some bad luck. J. R. Pyfferoen is a completely new narrator for me but I will definitely look for more of his work in the future. He has a great voice that is easy to listen to and perfectly captured the tone of this story.
