His usual good story telling

the author appears to have a thing about the smell of things .He described it so many times through the story it became very noticable

Is it me...???

Or is Charlotte REALLLLLY annoying? I know Enzo has been getting a bit of a bashing on the reviews but I kind of like the curmudgeonly old git. I also enjoy the storylines (and good that there were slightly fewer boob references in this one, but probably because the lovely Nicole wasn't in it) and absolutely adore Peter Forbes in my ear for hours at a time.... but please, no more sodding Charlotte.

Very enjoyable listen

I am a fan of Peter May and this fourth book in his ‘Enzo’ detective series did not disappoint. I think his writing works particularly well in audio format and Peter Forbes reads particularly well.

Peter Forbes' narration transforms this book

I have enjoyed most of the Peter May books on audible - but only with decent narration. This was NOT the case for the first in the Enzo series (Dry Bones, with truly awful narration by Simon Vance). Thankfully the tie-up between May and Forbes is gradually making more of his titles great listens. This is one of the latest to be re-recorded - hooray!

The book itself is another good piece of detective work for the big Scottish forensic investigator, this time mainly on an island near Lorient in Southern Brittany. I reckon it will keep most listeners entertained - and probably guessing right to the end. I now look forward to Peter Forbes narrations of the remainder of the series.

Excellent thriller, great plot

This is my 4th thriller by Peter May and i feel as though I have come to know Enzo quite well. Yet again brilliantly narrated by Peter Forbes - i hope these two chaps work together for a very long time!
