Summary
Martine Roberts and Elliot Tillman’s childhood friendship was intense. When they bump into each other again 30 years later, sneaking out of an apartment after one-night stands with a pair of roommates, all their feelings come rushing back.
Elliot needs a place to stay, and Martine needs a roommate. It should be simple, but it’s not friendship simmering between them. Growing up in Key West, rum distiller Martine has friends and family to spare, but her deepest heart she keeps to herself. With her career in the Coast Guard, Elliot’s never had a permanent address and didn’t mind, until moving in with Martine gives her a home. Now she wants to chart a different course with a woman who likes her relationships short and seasonal? Perfect.
Sometimes friends with benefits isn’t a foolproof way to hide from the truth at the heart of an affair.

Brilliant!
A wonderful peak into the lives of lesbians, from different walks of life, hitting it off.

Whoa. Worth a thousand stars.
This was unexpected…. In the best way possible!
Don’t let the sample audio or lack of written reviews turn you away. The book left me speechless. I was hesitant to write a review myself because don’t know how to give it the credit it deserves.
Title details are accurate. Established adult out lesbians. Less extreme takes on the common lesfic threads of the military and rekindled friendships. Woman in the Coast Guard reunites with a brief friendship from when she was 10.
And the sex, wow. That definitely left me speechless. Explicit but relatable. Body parts are called what they are, no cringey pseudonyms or adjectives. It was also nice to hear how the author incorporated consent, check-in, trust.
I’m not sure if it’s because I listened to this all in one go while I was traveling by car but I was so invested in these women! I laughed out loud, gasped in disbelief, and even scowled with irritation. Team Elliott all the way.

Caught off Guard
This book was way better than I was ever expecting it to be. I loved both main characters loved the pacing and build up of sexual tension. Some scenes from this book have been living rent free in my head for days. Will be listening to this one again in the future. Already sent it to some friends as a have to get book. If you like a steamy book this is for you.
