About this listen

Something is amiss in the village of Badley Compton…

Binoculars at the ready, Flappy Scott-Booth is set to investigate. Newcomers have moved in, a young couple from London, delightful no doubt but they do need to know their place. Who better to teach them the ways of this close-knit community than Flappy herself?

But Flappy has other distractions. An ardent admirer, a New Year’s Ball to organize and manifold appearances to be kept up. How much time and effort it all takes! Add to the mix the sudden arrival of her son Jasper with his utterly charming persona and total lack of ambition and drive, accompanied by his pretentious wife and their two highly-strung children - and Flappy is on ultra-high alert.

Endlessly entertaining, fabulously fun and gorgeously gossipy, Flappy Investigates is the pitch-perfect follow-up to the bestselling Flappy Entertains.

Yet another warm and funny romp!

Beautifully written by Santa Montefiore who has to be one of my favourite authors. She has created and developed the lovely Flappy who is a perfect combination of all the characteristics most of us abhor, as well as those we admire and strive for, and the gentle humour in this story was exactly what I needed at a time when everyone around me seems to be moaning, groaning and complaining about the state of the economy! Georgina Sutton’s performance is perfect as always and she brings the characters to life in a way that makes for easy and enjoyable listening. Can we expect more from Flappy & Co in future? I sincerely hope so!

Fun Story From a Normally Serious Author

I am a big fan of Santa Montefiore and enjoy most of her books. They are usually “serious” and have quite gritty storylines. Flappy Investigates is much more lightweight and lighthearted and feels like “chicklit”. Montefiore says herself that this is intentionally lighthearted. I was saddened to read several reviews from upset readers saying they will not read any more of Santa’s books. Not so me. She’s a very talented writer and has shown that she can do both serious and lightweight. I am looking forward to getting her new (serious) book which is being published in July but also her other Flappy book. Well done Santa.

Warm Funny Touching

Good follow-up book about flappy, makes you look into someone else’s life. That is obviously very privileged. Would definitely recommend if looking for an easy read. But read the first book 1st.

Fun story

Low concentration, fun and great escapism from harsh dark stories of today. Really good holiday book.

Very poor

It never gets off the ground. Is it meant to be funny I wonder? I’m not sure what’s funny about an upper class snob looking down her nose at those less fortunate people who don’t know their place. Very boring and very disappointing a waste of a credit
