Summary

The best days of your life might be still to come…

When 73 year old Jen announces that she is going to marry Eddie, a man she met just a few months previously on a beach on Boxing Day, her four best friends from aqua aerobics are flabbergasted.

The wedding is booked and, when the groom decides to have a stag trip to Las Vegas, the ladies arrange a hen party to beat all others -a week in the city of love, Paris.

From misadventures at the Louvre, outrageous Parisian cabarets, to drinking champagne with a dashing millionaire at the casino, Paris lives up to all their hopes and dreams. But a week can change everything, and the women that come home have very different dreams from the ones who got on the plane just days ago.

Funny, fearless and with a joie de vivre that reminds you to live every day like it’s your last. Judy Leigh has once again written the perfect feel-good novel for all fans of Cathy Hopkins, Dawn French and Fiona Gibson

Enjoyable

Didn't know what to expect when I started this book but soon became enmeshed in the lives of these 5 ladies. Thoroughly enjoyed the book

Another uplifting read from Judy Leigh

A story about real friendship and not settling for second best. I love the way Judy’s mature characters still see that live is for living at any age, an uplifting read!

Please research diverse characters or don't bother

I found both the writing and the performance of the Jamacian characters in this book INSULATING. It was clear that both the writer or the narrator has met maybe one Jamaican for a 10 min conversation. All the non British accents were bad, but the Jamacian one was insulting. It was like that time Marco White made Jamacian Rice and peas with grean garden peas and chicken in one pot lol. One pot Chicken and rice is mentioned in relation to the Jamacian couple in the story, which all people that have spent any time with Jamaicans know, is not a thing.

Feel good story full of dreams

Enjoyed this book from the start. Quite predictable storyline, but enjoyable to listen to. The narration went well with the story.

Amusing, feel good story

Being a fan of the narrator, Annie Aldington, this book made a pleasant change to her usual narratives of gangland London. A tale of five recently acquainted ladies on a journey of group and self discovery to Paris. A pleasant, amusing, feel good story.

Pure escapism!

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story. The women all seemed so real and I lost myself in their adventures in Paris. Alright, great literature it isn’t, but a very good listen,
sitting in the garden in the sun with a nice glass of chilled white wine!

Funny and uplifting- couldn’t recommend enough!

Picked this up as a pallet cleanser, not my normal go to however, it was really great. I fell in love instantly with the five hens. What a lovely uplifting story, really funny and just an all around great time. Would highly recommend!

Five French Hens

Entertaining story and I have to say I liked all the characters. It was well read and although the ending was predictable I still enjoyed it.
