About this listen
Sebastian Orwell did the only thing a smart wizard could do when he stumbled upon the wounded Crown Prince: He healed him and dumped him in a tavern where he could continue not being Sebastian's problem. Unfortunately, the prince isn't content with being alive, and he hunts Sebastian down to thank him personally. Not only is Sebastian stuck with the prince's unwanted affections, but he's also confronted by growing evidence linking the assassination attempt to someone from his father's past.
Lord Orwell is a lot of things: thief, liar, drunk, and all-around horrible father, but Sebastian knows he's no murderer. In order to prove it, Sebastian has to keep the prince alive long enough to discover the truth - a task made considerably harder because the idiot prince prefers wooing Sebastian over securing his own survival. On top of everything, Sebastian needs to save the day without revealing his magical powers and the real reason he hides his appearance.
Sebastian had no intention of playing the hero, but whoever is stirring up shit in his country will pay for destroying his quiet life.

very impressed.
I really enjoyed this and continue to do so when I need to break from the more serious literature. The story line and characters are engaging with a good dose of dry humour to balance the romance. Well done.

Great story, terrible narrator
Would you try another book written by Sam Argent or narrated by Cornell Collins?
Yes I would read the author, but the narrator totally ruined this for me. I should have learned my lesson by now, never buy without listening to the sample first but I was so excited to see this book available I just checked it wasn't Matthew Lloyd Davis and clicked, only to find it was MLD by another name. Serves me right.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved Sebastian. He's very funny
How could the performance have been better?
This narrator is, and I appreciate, this is only my opinion, completely wrong for these types of books, he reads clearly, but it's like listening to Jackanory, yes, he'd be great with kids books but not this.
Did Family of Lies: Sebastian inspire you to do anything?
On audible it inspired me to switch it off after the first minute. I'm going to return it.
Any additional comments?

The story needs more work
There are a number of issues that this book suffers from and the poor world building and number of very similar characters have to be the weakest points. This could have been better.

What a mess of a book!
What a disaster this book was. I saw on Goodreads that this book has lots of 5star reviews. They must have been paid for because the book I heard is unrecognizable from those glowing reviews. I had to DNF because I was so disappointed with the terrible writing and editing. There was no world-building, and just an ever growing cast of characters and endless dialogue. I am really shocked that Dreamspinner Press released the story in such a state-with little to no editing. Avoid.
