Magical

If you’re a fan of Fae lore, magic and a good dose of humour then this story is for you. Really enjoyed the variety of characters interwoven into the storyline and it was narrated superbly.

Thoroughly enjoyed it

One of the reviews claimed it was a bad Dresden Files rip off, but it's a good Dresden-like story with a main character who isn't unlikeable. I love the world Jim Butcher has imagined, but can't stand Harry Dresden himself. This book gives you an equally well imagined world with Fae, magic, werewolves etc, and a likeable main character who messes up sometimes but generally gets it right.

Wonderful

Book caught my interest from beginning to end and is one of my favourites. Couldn’t wait for book two to be available on audible. The narrator was absolutely marvellous. Showed clear distinction between characters and really brought the authors book too life for me. Excellent writing paired with a excellent author. 🙌🏾🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Entertaining but unoriginal

The narrator is superb. The story starts out well, the lore and the protagonist's background intriguing. I didn't like Parker, though. The sloppy, slightly awkward yet sarcastic protagonist with a tragic past and a heart of gold meets an unapproachable yet very handsome cop who is of course very neat and lives by a strict moral code (and he is muscular too). This set of characters for a couple has been used and reused too many times. Parker is essentially the woman from a romance novel for ladies. Maybe that's why he comes across as annoying to me, when he's intended to be cute.

Unsucessful Dresden Files rip-off

Practically a beat for beat rip off of the Dresden files, but without Harry Dresden, so it falls limp. Almost reads like fanfic, as there's an inexplicable romantic relationship which goes from zero to full-on with absolutely no laying of ground work. It got boring very quickly.

The narrator does a reasonable job with the source material.
