Summary

Can Allie save her town from the ravages of the fae, or will their sneaky bargains and tangled charms steal her soul?

From USA Today best-selling author Sarah K. L. Wilson comes this completed series--a deliciously trope-filled young adult romantic fantasy about a viciously funny mortal girl and her quest to hunt, trap, and conquer powerful fae.

She's the village hunter--born and raised to protect them from danger. But there is one danger too great for her skills. They stole her sister. They stole her sight. And now they’re going to steal everything else…unless she can stop them.

He's a gorgeous and tricky fae who is used to seeing his desires come to pass--one way or another. To him, lies are truth, power is sustenance, and every action ripples into violence. He is glamor, violence, and deadly temptation, and he's not being honest about why he came to the mortal world.

But the town is turning against Allie, and she is losing allies one by one. She needs a secret weapon to use against them, and she needs to be brave enough to use it…whatever the cost. Or she will just be one more kill to these deadly hunters.

Will they find a way to work together, or are they forever destined to fight each other each step of the way in this deadly dance between the mortal world and the immortals who want to take it all for themselves?

For lovers of The Cruel Prince and An Enchantment of Ravens comes a world of violent fae, trickery, and magic. Listen to the completed series today!

Main character is not blind

I bought this book because I was intrigued about the concept of a disabled lead character. It turns out though that once blinded, she has a magic scarf that she can tie around her head which fully restores her vision and when she isn’t wearing it, she can see an otherwise invisible world. A more accurate description would be that she has super-sight. I found this quite disappointing. I also find the main character very immature which is only added to by the narrators very young sounding voice. She also seems happy to take on blame that doesn’t belong to her. All in all, t was quite a frustrating read for me. This book ought to be categorised in the young adult section.

Enjoyed

I enjoyed the story of this book. However, there were a few times that I was frustrated with the female protagonist, like when she would forget she held a magical item or name. This book was creative, romantic without graphic scenes, and took you through all of the emotions. It was rather gruesome with all of the blood and torture. But a happy ending always gets me in the end.

Quite a fantastical journey

This is really dark and full of violence, but the main character, Allie Hunter, never gives up hope that she can save everyone, even those in her village who despise her.

There is a snarky fae, Scouvrel, who follows her every step, determined to end the Faewald's entanglement.

The dangers are many and the enemies are powerful. It is a long journey to the finale, but it is worth it, especially with Caitlin Kelly narrating.

Worth the credit if you enjoy dark fae fantasy.
