Summary

He wants to destroy the greatest empire in the world. Powerful women want him to rule it.

Does Mykah want to avenge the emperor or rule an empire? He has the power to choose, now that he has an army of horned oni and devoted commanders.

Whatever choice he makes, first he must conquer a female dragon and a vampiress. They have him surrounded and outnumbered. If he agrees to serve them, they’ll give him an empire.

But Mykah is no stranger to death and danger. People serve him, now.

If he wants an empire, then he’ll take it.

The royal grand duke.

At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review.

Genre: Fantasy with erotic and harem aspects.

Power dynamics in harem: Girls are subservient to the MC once established in harem, can be initially challenging.
Explicit/adult material: Explicit. More than the first book.

Summary:
Mykah has pronounced himself grand duke and must now survive the attacks against him and his undeclared but de facto rebellion. Many of the powerful forces moving against him are women from his past and extremely capable of giving him a challenge. At the same time his Oni allies are demanding much and providing little.

Narrators
Voice diversity: Well done, the characters have their own voice.
Pacing and intonation: Very good. The action is intense and the celebrations joyful. Very immersive.
Sex scenes: Work well.
Overall: 4.5 / 5 stars.

The book’s strengths.
- The book works as just a fantasy book. But has added harem elements that work well.
- It does a great job of world building and explaining the discord between the species in the empire.
- The relationship between the girls are really flourishing in this book
- Fox girl is best girl
- Some of the women are becoming truly powerful and more than just pretty side kicks.
- Great narration

The book’s weaknesses.
- Though much better than the first in terms of how romances are initiated, the girls still feel a bit unnaturally attracted to the MC. The foundations for the devotion feels missing.

Overall: 4.5/5 stars
A great follow up book, much stronger than the first book of the series.
