About this listen

I was ruthless. I was feared. I had sacrificed. Myself. Her. Everything.

Living in a world where I was worth more dead than alive was a choice. I was a bad man; I never claimed to be anything else. I've done things I'm not proud of, seen things that can't be unseen. I've caused pain that I can't undo.

It was all my choice. Every decision. Every order. Right and wrong never mattered. Until her.

She was under my protection, until she became my obsession.

But who was going to save her...from me? The devil himself.

Fate brought us together. Destiny destroyed us.

4.5 Explosive Stars

I've got to be honest and say, I wasn't fully invested until part 2, at which point it just got better and better, so much so that I was pulling my hair out and crying and shouting at my phone. I sure am willing to dance with the devil! Martinez was evil, heartless and I loved him! With some gruesome scenes, some highly emotional scenes, and a whole bunch of panty melting sexy scenes this book took my completely and utterly by surprise. I was well and truly blindsided. I had so many theories, some correct, some way off base. Heart wrenching at points towards the end. So many revelations, so much passion. This is a true action packed romance that spans Martinez's whole life as one of the biggest crime bosses in America. I'm completely disorientated as I get off this rollercoaster ride of a book. I loved loved loved it. The narration was perfect.

So many twists

This book kinda side swiped me! There’s so much going on . These characters are so hard and relentless. I love how they grow through the years.

Review

Where does El Diablo [The Devil] rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

El Diablo ranks high in audio books I have enjoyed reading, I was really impressed by it. The story is brilliant, really well written and the narration is first class. It kept me totally engrossed all the way through. It was so good I was able to read it really quickly in two sittings because I found it so compulsive.

What was one of the most memorable moments of El Diablo [The Devil]?

I think the whole book was memorable, I did find the swearing a bit hard to get used to, but once I did I just accepted it. Lexi suffered terribly throughout her life and I thought the way El Diablo treated her was excruciating. There was only so much that could be overlooked because of his upbringing and circumstances. I was relieved to find there was a good reason for his actions, but I still did not like what he had done.

Have you listened to any of Lauren Sweet and Marcio Catalano ’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have not heard the narrators before but they were really good. I thoroughly enjoyed the way they read the book. It was a pleasure to listen to them. The recording was clear and crisp and I found no faults at all.

Very good, captive, engaging

I was going to give up after first 20 minutes of listening because of amount of swearing in the book. It was unbearable even for my men ears. The story is full of cruel and sexual scenes but still has got a bit too much f-words. But the story kept me going and listen as much as possible. In some places I would suggest replacing repetitive phrases with synonyms for example "an air which wasn't there" or "in three thrusts". On the hindsight El Diablo is much better than other English audiobooks I listened. The audiobook finishes on a positive note.
