Kathleen has always been dramatic. She suffers from the bizarre malady of experiencing stabbing pain in her feet. On her 16th birthday, she woke screaming from the sensation that her tongue had been cut out. No doctor can find a medical explanation for her pain, and even the most powerful drugs have proven useless. Only the touch of seawater can ease her pain, and just temporarily at that.

"The Eve of St. Agnes" was written in January 1819 and first published in 1820. It is a Romantic Narrative poem written in 42 Spenserian stanzas. John Keats based his poem on the superstition that a girl could see her future husband in a dream if she performed certain rites on the eve of the feast of St. Agnes (the patron saint of virgins who died a martyr in 4th century Rome.) The eve falls on January 20th; the feast day on the 21st.

No table of contents
It certainly seems like good value to have Poe's complete works as one audiobook.
Unfortunately it is almost completely unusable, as there is no table of contents!
and thus no way to find any particular story or poem - you just have to listen to them all in order.

Great Stories; Poor Reading
The narrator is terrible. He struggles with his pronunciations and even pronounces certain words inconsistently. Also, lines of text are skipped over.
Poe, of course, is brilliant. But, the narrator murders the text.

Good collection for the price.
For the price this is a great collection. The narrator has a nice soothing voice and the pacing is good. I'm actually using this to slow down before going to sleep. The problem is that the content isn't really marked well so you have no story titles etc. If you just want all of Poe for one low price which sounds great get this!

Sub-par Narration
The narrator offer struggles and stumbles over
words, when he is not mispronounced them outright. I found this extremely distracting, and it definitely took away from my enjoyment of the book. I originally purchased this as an audio-sync, however this feature stopped working several hours in and neither I nor the customer service/technical support could get it working again. I had to finish this book as solely an audiobook. Had I not been so far into the book I would have found a version with a better narrator.

worst narrator ever
I struggled through 3 or 4 stories, but found the narrator UNBEARABLE. Not only is his pronunciation of foreign phrases EXCRUCIATING, he occasionally slaughters even ordinary English words. Then l skipped to the last selection, "the Bells', a poem i know well & love ... he even managed to ruin that ! Can I trade this in & use my credit on something with a better narrator?
