Summary

An epic tale of evil and rescue, betrayal and love, and a terrorist threat unlike anything the human race has ever known.

Ted Dekker’s best-selling and most beloved series - together in one volume.

It's the story of a man named Thomas Hunter, an unlikely hero who finds himself pulled between two worlds. In our reality, he works in a coffee house. In the other, he becomes a battle-scarred general leading a band of followers known as the Circle. Every time he falls asleep in one reality, he wakes in the other. The fate of both worlds now rests on his ability to shift realities through his dreams - and somehow, find a way to change history.

Four novels. Two worlds. One story.

Praise for the Circle series:

“Put simply: it’s a brilliant, dangerous idea. And we need more dangerous ideas.... Dekker’s trilogy is a mythical epic, with a vast, predetermined plot and a scope of staggering proportions.... Black is one of those books that will make you thankful that you know how to read. If you love a good story, and don’t mind suspending a little healthy disbelief, Black will keep you utterly enthralled from beginning to...well, cliffhanger. Red can’t get here fast enough.” (FuseMagazine.net)

“As a producer of movies filled with incredible worlds and heroic characters, I have high standards for the fiction I read. Ted Dekker’s novels deliver big with mind-blowing, plot-twisting page-turners. Fair warning - this trilogy will draw you in at a breakneck pace and never let up. Cancel all plans before you start because you won’t be able to stop once you enter Black.” (Ralph Winter, producer - X-Men, X2: X-Men United, Planet of the Apes, executive producer - StarTrek V: Final Frontier)

Black has to be the read of the year! A powerful, thought-provoking, edge-of-your-seat thriller of epic proportions that offers great depth and insight into the forces around us.” (Joe Goodman, film producer, Namesake Entertainment)

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!!!

This was a real adventure and had my heart racing in parts. I loved how he made the Bible come alive in some parts and the application. The twists and turns made it all better. A true adventure! Also this was 4 books in one. More than a bargain.

Great gripping story shame about the sound effects

Start with the bad.
1. The prequel book [titled Green] can ruin the main three books as it contains a few summaries within the story. It came out 5 years later.
2. There is random music at the end / beginning of some of the chapters. It was recorded at a higher level than the narrator and as a result it break the immersion of the book and it often is loud and garish on the ear.
On with the Good.
This was a gripping set of books written extremely well. Very strong characters and great involving story. Not all the twists were predictable and although many things in the story break immersion due to just being illogical, as they are explained in the story they make complete sense within the narrative and as a result are great story drivers.
I will be buying more of this author as it was so good.

Powerfully Written and God inspired!

As I listened through this incredible story, I couldn’t help thinking how Ted Dekker was able to orchestrate this incredible novel to so closely align with the biblical explanation of the origins of our world, it’s end and all the challenges and theories in between. This I believe would not have been possible without God inspiring this novel; not in the same way the Bible was inspired, but inspired nonetheless. Thank you Ted for using your knowledge and gift in writing for God’s glory. This story truly revealed the deep truths of God’s word in a very real and understandable way. Thank you for giving this gift to the world at a time where it is much needed.

A brilliant translation of God's love ❤️

I love this book as it expressed God's love in a relatable way that anyone can connect with. The twist and turns were amazing and I pray that this would be turned into a movie as it will impact many lives. 🙏🏽

Beige

So, one in four of these novels is worthy of praise. Ironically, Black was the one to shine here, with tension and suspense, an eager energy about it that you get lost in, and evidence of purposeful structure in its writing. The overarching story to the series is one with huge scope, but this is wasted on religious allegory and a boringly pithy, repetitive cycle of the same throughout all instalments. I spent a good amount of time listening to this longing for Dekker to deliver conclusions to plot points that simply faded into the ether and became a part of a mediocre, forgettable tale. This does the Bible no favours. I’d not come across Dekker before, nor had I given Christian fiction a look (I’m not going to start a debate about the Bible’s place as fact or fiction, so keep your cool). Suffice it to say, they can both get in the sea!
