Incredible Powerful!
Everyone has suffered from grief in some way or another, and this book is perfect for getting through those times. Something I absolutely loved about how the author structured this book is how he provided stories in every chapter of something going through a hard time. It made everything much more real and relatable.

A wonderful and much appreciated book.
I have a friend who recently lost her husband and so I wanted to understand more about how she was feeling because there is not too much that I can help with in terms of the loss other than trying to understand better so I can help where it is possible.
This book covers a range of real -life practicalities that the bereaved often face, from being overwhelmed by admin and the effect that this has as its gone through, to forgiveness and friends. I had never heard of the 12 steps of grief before either. These real-life stories from people who have experienced loss and who have given their time to talk about how they felt and how they cope is a huge help - just knowing you are not alone - and I know how important that is, especially with the ‘small things’.
The description of the ‘grieving brain’ was just so perfect as was the description of dealing with going back to work. The author very clearly knows this well and knows what, not just those grieivng, but their wider family and friends, need , that can support and help.
A huge resource and comfort for anyone experiencing grief or who want to support those struggling (and not telling you). It is comforting to listen to (and sad at times) but it is also extremely practical with good advice and tools to cope.
I have listened 4 times now - a wonderful and much appreciated book.

Making Grief Useful
I was listening to this book intending to judge its usefulness as a gift to a friend who recently lost her mum, and it has ended up helping me more than I could have anticipated. I was finally able to put a finger on some memories and figure out my triggers for grief that I thought I had dealt with. Turns out I had just buried it. Thanks to this book, I feel like I can cope better, I have certainly been able to let go of some anger I was holding onto, so there's that too,
