Summary

A stand-alone story in the Shadow Beast Shifters world. Best listened to after Reborn for storyline continuity.

Melalekin "Angel" of the Honor Meadows has been a warrior her entire life. Battle. Death. Loss. They were her constant companions until the day she met Mera Callahan. A shifter who ended up being so much more. A shifter who changed her life, and now...she has been reborn. The scars of her past are gone. Her losses muted under the new life she plans on living.

There's just one being standing in her way. A grudge holding desert deity who has made an art form out of making her life hell.

Reece of the Desert Lands is a god unused to being defied, and he has a very long memory when it comes to those who wronged him. Angel is the one he blames for the worst loss in his life, and he'll never let her forget it. Their history is tragic and bloodied, and the pair is set to clash one more time, especially when they end up trapped in the very spot where they lost it all. A meeting of the dynasties in the Delfora, the ancient desert lands, will force them to the place it all began.

Here they will learn that sometimes the past defines your future. And that there is a fine line between love and hate.

Note: This is a stand-alone in the Shadow Beast world and does not end on a cliff-hanger. It is full-length, and it is advised to listen to the first three in the Shadow Beast Shifters series first (Rejected, Reclaimed, Reborn). This is an enemies-to-lovers story, with action, snark, antiheroes, and steam. It is recommended for 18+ due to storyline and situations.

Simply awful in comparison shadow Beast series

Simply awful in comparison shadow Beast series

it's just "nothing-y" there's no real story to it, nothing gripping and it ruins the Angel character.

Brilliant addition to the series

The Shadowbeast series has really been fantastic to listen to. Yes they are sexy paranormal books but the characters are really engaging. The entire Shadowbeast universe and Solaris system is so clever. I was really pleased to find this standalone book about Angel. She is a strong badass warrior and her back story definitely deserved it's own book. This book did not dissapoint. I really do recommend this book. Be warned it is very sexually explicit but the storyline is definitely not your usual erotica. I would love to see this series a films. The world created by the author is rich with detail and really clever.

Deserted

A great second love story as Angel comes to terms with her losses, and Reace finally forgives her. After many battles with each other they join forces and battle the awakening Gods. Read brilliantly by Marnye Young and Jakobi Diem.

Good but too similar

So I liked it but
Heck it it makes sense that it's "shadow the second" Becuase it might as well have been "Mira the second" as well. I loved Angel in the other books and there was a lot of potential in the story about her but honestly... It was just too simple and made her weaker and uninteresting character that basically ended up being the new Mira...
I miss the other Angel and I feel like this was written too fast and too much like a repeat if the previous...
It was good but lacked in depth.

#DesertAngel

This book was amazing to read, but listening to it is even better! The characters are really bought to life by the voice actors, and the pace was fantastic.

Hate the male voice

The woman reader was wonderful but the male was irritating and left something lacking. Another male reader for all books were not enjoyable

Sad but awesome story!

I loved the story but listening to the first 3 Shadow Beast Shifters books with Mera & Shadow I feel in love with the narrators & I was deeply disappointed they changed the narrators. For about 1 minute! They were awesome! I loved this story it was sweet, steamy, & sad it hits you right in the feels!!! 5*****!!!!!!

the guy voice wasn't working

I like this book and the woman voice but the guy voice was hard to distinguish from which character was talking. they all sounded the same. I like the guy in the first three books.

Sooo Shadowshine but let’s call it Dessert Angel

After listening to the first 3 books with the same narrators. These narrators didn’t do it for me at all. Even worse the male lacks diversity in his tone.

To the book… like WTF! We know Reese is Shadow Jr. So that made sense, but why turn Angel in to needy ass Mera!?!! The story is just a repeat of Mera and Shadows story. The same tone and words are even used.. THE EXACT SAME!! I like the claiming of the mates.. but come on.. Can we actually get more words out that saying “mine.” I hate how Angels character turns from this dope warrior to cowering over some d***.. How did we instantly go from we hate each other and can’t stand to be in the same vicinity to sleeping with each other over 3 chapters or so.. the series is super misogynistic while tryna throw in independent woman vibe but ultimately failing by submitting to their mate completely.

Good story bad narrators

The story was a good story and aligned well with the previous series. It was good to see other characters brought back. It was a very sad story as well. The narrator voices for this were not great. Their attempts at different voices were difficult to believe and some times super nasally and annoying. At times it detracted from the story and what was going on.

The story was ok but rushed but male narrator was abysmal.

The story was ok but rushed. Needed more time and story to make it really connect. The female reader was good. The male reader was terrible. He did all of the male characters basically the same and it was hard to tell who he was speaking for most of the book

Narration annoying at times but a great addition to the Shadowbeast Shifters world

The narration felt overall stale and off-point with emotion. No complaints about storyline whatsoever though. Fully enjoyed immersing myself in another solaris system world.

Loved this story

I still don't know why Recee was so upset with Angel over leaving the battle all those centuries ago I was super annoyed he was part of the reason that the merry band of a holes shunned her. However, I was very happy to see them finally connect. I was so bummed with Alistor! Definitely wasn't expecting that. I wish she would have gone a little more into their past since they were best friends. They must have had a ton of adventures and I wish they would have gone I to that as they were sailing across the desert. I'm really looking forward to Simon and Luciens story.

Voice actors

Really loving this series but the change of voice actors is throwing the story off. They all kinda have similar voices. Loving getting more of Angels backstory
