Summary

The new Death in Paradise mystery

Two dead bodies. A family of suspects. One grumpy detective.

Reluctantly stationed on the sweltering Caribbean island of Saint-Marie, Detective Inspector Richard Poole dreams of cold winds, drizzly rain and a pint in his local pub.

Just as he is feeling as fed up as can be, a mysterious vagrant is found dead in the grounds of the historic Beaumont plantation. Immediately assumed to be suicide, DI Poole is not so convinced and is determined to prove otherwise. Never mind that the only fingerprints on the murder weapon belong to the victim. Or that the room was locked from the inside.

Before long, death knocks twice and a second body turns up. The hunt is on to solve the case - despite the best efforts of the enigmatic Beaumont family....

Better than on tv

I love the series death in Paradise, but the book is so much better. The characters are still the same, but much more interesting. I can't wait to find more of these books.

Lightweight fun

Easy listening with excellent narrator and characters as expected from TV series. Plot twists also kept me guessing right to the end.

Superb

Love the series and was unsure whether an audio book could do it justice: I’m happy to say I was wrong. Loved it. Can’t wait to start the next one.

Richard Poole is doing the business

Richard is brought to life by Phil Fox brilliantly, I loved the blend of a stuffy English DI on a tropical island supported by Camille, Dwayne and Fidel.

Nice story, but dialogues could be better.

I enjoyed the book and the series, but I thought that in this book the dialogues were written a bit sluggishly. The phrase “what’s that?” (which in my view carries very little substance) was totally overused and got a bit irritating towards the end of the book.

How Does He Do It?

How Does Robert Thorogood write such gripping books? The way he writes is so interesting and always keeps you hanging on every word. If you like to watch Death In Paradise you will certainly love these books are even if you just like reading crime books I would highly recommend this series. I was unsure at first about the narrator but it didn't take me a minute to change my mind. He did a grate job with all the accents.

Another great Death in Paradise story!

Love this series and the characters but if someone had said "What's that?" One more time I would have screamed and thrown my phone out of the window!
It was like every character had some kind of hearing problem.

Other than that it was another great murder mystery with Richard and the gang and a good narrator.

just like the series, this was good fun, pretty cosy with no gruesome details of the murder. I loved the ending. the narrator was good and did the accents well.
