About this listen
Famous, beautiful, and talented, Heike Gunn has the world at her feet. Then one day she simply vanishes. Jack Parlabane has lost everything. A call from an old friend offers a chance for redemption--but only if he can find out what happened to Heike.
From Berlin to Barcelona, from the streets of Milan to remote Scottish islands, Parlabane must find out what happened before it's too late, all while the walls are closing in...

Took a punt on this book and it had me gripped
I hadn't read this author before but took a punt on it in the sales and was gripped by both the story line and the performance

Reasonable story, 50% excellent narration
I struggled to finish this one. Angus King's narration was solid, Kate Bracken's really put a downer on the whole experience, I'm afraid. Unless I feel an urge to start listening to books about a whiny teenager's angst and depression (where I think her reading style would be well suited), I think I'll be avoiding her in the future. Of course, it is always possible that that was the desired effect - in which case, well done Kate! But I'll still be avoiding her... to be on the safe side.

Tiwsty turny literature
You know enough about the synopsis - but I can add that the narration is spot-on, and the use of the two narrators works perfectly. CB's books are usually a treat because they are so intelligently written and engaging in their use of language, this one is too. More please - including all the missing ones from CB's back catalogue.

Excellent story, well narrated.
An intriguing and engaging mystery with quite a few surprises. I usually guess the plots but this one did keep me guessing...

Good basic story but narrative not engaging
Would you try another book written by Chris Brookmyre or narrated by Angus King and Kate Bracken ?
Unlikely. The narrative was not engaging despite the good story.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The narrative needs more forward motion. It feels too slow and always waiting for something to happen.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Make the character a little less whiny.
Do you think Dead Girl Walking needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
The story has been played out and the secret revealed.

Great Story
Would you listen to Dead Girl Walking again? Why?
I love Chris Brookmyre's books as his stories develop gradually and he clearly enjoys writing about his key characters. In this one Jack Parlabane is back, almost as a broken man, having lost everything. However, Jack's not really broken - just far more cynical and with less to lose! The narration is great too!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jack Parlabane of course - the book's main, highly cynical character!
What does Angus King and Kate Bracken bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
The use of 2 narrators to read the main female and male parts works really well in this book as it's written from 2 different perspectives, flitting between both in turn. Both Angus and Kate play their parts really well and both are entirely convincing!
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Jack's Back!

Excellent
I've been a fan of Chris Brookmyre for a long time now, but I'm new to Audiobooks. The narration really brings out the best in CB's turn of phrase e.g. Celebretard and it was great to see old friends like Spammy and Steph return for cameos.
