How Joe Roberts does what he does is a mystery. He has a brain that seems able to outperform a computer. To a games company like Venstrom that promises big profits if his abilities can be properly exploited. So they send Nicole Nevinson to track him down and make him an offer too good to refuse.

Not up to scratch...
Have read all of RG’s book and the last two this and Panic Room have been very weak, no real excitement, didn’t care about the characters. This was very uninteresting, back story really boring and premise just not believable. Sorry a real disappointment, after Panic Room thought the only way I would get through it would be to listen on audible as I wanted to give it a go, but nearly stopped listening, definitely would not have managed to finish it if I had been reading it. Love his old stuff, if you have not read him go back to the beginning and enjoy In Pale Battalions onwards but these latest ones are not a good place to start!

Not his best and written in the present tense
The story took a while to get off the ground and ended with a whimper. This was a reasonable read but certainly not Goddard at his best.
I absolutely loathed the present tense narrative ("I hear the phone ring and I move toward the window...."). I have never come across this in a book before and would not want to read one like that again.

not one of his best
I simply love Robert Goddard's novels, I know them all well but even on Audible this is not one of the best. I DO NOT like the narrators at all and its almost too complicated.

One false move
In the wide field of excellent Robbert Goddards this ranks somewhere mid pack. All the usual thrills and spills just with very slightly less intriguing characters. This still makes it a good deal better than most other titles

Women aren’t weak
Nicole perseveres in a men’s world and, in adventurous intriguing situations, survives to engineer a happy ending.
Her narrator is outstanding.

A bit different from Robert Goddard's usual work, and story was sometimes a bit implausible, but I enjoyed listening to this. Narration was good.

A good story that help pass the miles.
Robert Goddard always produces the goods, it's not my favourite but it was an enjoyable listen on my daily commute.

Narration spoils story.
Robert Goddard always, nearly always, writes a good and engrossing story. This one is no different; the story is interesting and keeps one attention, but the narration, I won't call them performances, are very poor. Fiona Hampton is BORING. Alistair Petrie is somewhat better, but still lacks the drive necessary for an enjoyable listen. The novel was ruined by the narration. I think I'll get the print format.

As always from Robert Goddard, a gripping book, excellently performed.
I have loved all his books. Their are original and unpredictable. The performance here was wonderful.
