Summary

A chance encounter can change everything.

When Aly joined the Grayhart mission to find advanced civilizations within deep space, she didn't expect to be captured far from home and taken to Xolis, a galactic empire like none ever seen, ruled by the nillium, a powerful race with a serious god complex.

Now outsiders, Aly and her team of explorers are sent to the darkest place within Xolis: Lethe Maws. A mining city on a planet home to outcasts, slaves, and monstrous creatures lurking in the deep dark. It's home to the Dark One, a dangerous exile even the nillium fear, living at the bottom of the mines where all are warned never to go.

When Aly runs into the legendary alien in a very unlikely place, what she finds is no monster but a large, mysterious, nillium male with fierce silver eyes, who makes her heart race. But though the nillium outcast had reached for her, desiring to touch her, fascinated by her as she was of him, Aly soon learns he's not looking to be friends or possibly something more. What Aly doesn't know is that the Dark One - known by his kind as Ryziel, son of the nillium's now dead ruler - isn't looking for love or a mate. He's looking to get off Lethe Maws for good and return home to his brother, the only family who accepts him for who he is, the only one who matters. But the human woman brings out a darker part of him that he can't control; something he never thought possible. As he is determined to escape, he struggles to understand his need for her. A need to protect her. A need to claim her. He's determined not to let her get too close lest she be his undoing.

Try as he might to keep her at a distance, Aly will become the one thing Ryziel needs to be free.

Dark's Savior is a stand-alone novel in the Dark World Mates series.

Great

enjoy the story but Heather Costa who tried doing the male voice was terrible she made a strong and terrifing alien sound like a wimp it's a pity that Jeffrey Kafer did not speak as much in the story

Gripping story, let down by one of the two narrators

Lots of suspense and plot twists, I very much enjoyed the story. The female narrator was great, and gave life to the characters, all of my stars for performance are hers. I found the male narrator very hard work to listen to, he sounded permanently bored, and didn’t seem to be able to breathe life into any of the characters, or hold my attention when narrating the story. Sad really, because it really spoiled this audiobook for me

Engaging

Aly is a great blend of strong and soft. She doesn't whine and is kind, but she also isn't afraid to fight for herself. Her relationship with Ryziel is nicely complicated. The book keeps moving with plot twists and extra adventure. The narrator was excellent and the story well written. I would highly recommend.

Slow to ignite

I have to admit that I liked the first book better in the series but this one had its good points too. In both cases Ms. Riley slowly builds up to the climax of the story. This tends to make the story drag a little bit in part. But makes the listener want to see what happens. Generally, I like it when there is a male and female narrator but I was disappointed in Ms. Costa. Her performance was well enough, but her voice was hoarse or husky to such an extent that I would get distracted from the story. I found myself wanting to clear my throat as I listened to her. Unfortunately, this made me want to give an average rating overall because of the voice. Mr. Kafer was good and he was why I gave two stars instead of one for the performance. Having said all of that, I do plan on listening to the next book in the series if there should be one.

Really great but spice lacks

I’m still hung up on the lack of descriptive love scenes. Very wham bam. At least there was a few sentences of foreplay this time.

Other than that these stories are awesome and imaginative. And I really wanna overlook this hiccup about this part of the writing but reason I’m listening is for the spice. The mediocre spice level is a little disappointing.

If these were truly awful I wouldn’t even bother going on to the next book but the stories are so intriguing, I will be finishing the series.

A pretty solid Sci-Fi Romance

Overall, a good edition to the genre. Definitely higher on the Sci-Fi elements than a lot of books in the romance genre. There are also several horror elements, which add to the overall plot - but sensitive readers should be cautious.

A good story

The narration is fantastic. I admit this one isn’t quite as spine-tingling as the first book but it is well worth the listen. Enjoy

Finally! Good sci-fi romance

I am buying all her books because it’s hard to find great sci-fi romance books with smart characters! Love the slow to burn feel between the love interests too!

TERRIBLE FEMALE NARRATOR, STUPID female lead

The female narrator was TERRIBLE! She sounded as if she was recovering fromthe flu, a bad case of laryngitis, needed to clear her throat badly, and needed to drink a hot cup of tea!!
When I listened to the sample it wasn't so bad, that's probably because it was so short.. I didn't care for her voice then but I figured if the story is good, I'd be able to endure it.... OMG it's soooooo bad that I am actually leaving my review in the middle of the book!!
G R A T E S -O N-T H E- N E R V E!!!

The male narrator is actually good. He sounds like what a sexy alien should sound like. Nice deep voice and just enough monotonous inflections to know that you are speaking with an otherworldly being.

The female lead is just stupid! Inquisitive to a fault, Life threatening inquisitiveness! Having a life-threatening incident happen to her because of her inquisitiveness and lack of understanding to this particular area and world didn't teach her anything! She goes and does the same stupid stuff because that's in her nature she can't help it and she's not going to stop for anyone while putting other people in danger!!
She asked so many fucking questions! Even during the time of danger when she should be shutting the hell up, and doing what the person who's protecting her is telling her to do!

I should be used to this because this happens in every story in this genre, however I am enjoying the fact that it's just enough mystery to keep me intrigued.

I would actually be rating this book even higher if this narrator wasn't so fucking bad.

****UPDATE ***** The ending sucked... all the loose ends were tied up, so to speak, but it was as if they just said "the end" It DID NOT have an epilouge with some time elapsed so you can imagine their future!... This book deserves a 1 or zero!! I can never get that time back!
