Story
Sharks - the ultimate predators, masters of their watery domain, a world that is entirely alien and inhospitable to man. So many aspects of the shark are associated with humankind's most primal fears. Inspired by such classic pulp movies as Jaws and Deep Blue Sea - as well as such ludicrous delights as Sharknado and Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus - the stories contained within are rip-roaring thrillers and slow-build chillers that celebrate all things savage, pulp, and selachian.

Story
Sam Miracle's life is made up of dreams - dreams where he's a courageous, legendary hero instead of a foster kid with two bad arms that can barely move. Sometimes these dreams feel so real, they seem like forgotten memories. And sometimes they make him believe that his arms might come alive again. But Sam is about to discover that the world he knows and the world he imagines are separated by only one thing: time. And that separation is only an illusion.

Story
They say that the Thorn of Camorr can beat anyone in a fight. They say he steals from the rich and gives to the poor. They say he's part man, part myth, and mostly street-corner rumor. And they are wrong on every count. Only averagely tall, slender, and god-awful with a sword, Locke Lamora is the fabled Thorn, and the greatest weapons at his disposal are his wit and cunning. He steals from the rich - they're the only ones worth stealing from - but the poor can go steal for themselves.

Story
Sneaking out of the palace wasn’t one of Aniri’s best ideas. But she’s the third daughter of the Queen of Dharia - zero responsibilities and zero royal duties. She’s just the backup daughter, in case her older sisters’ arranged marriages - to take the crown or broker an alliance - don’t quite work out. But once Aniri reaches her 18th birthday, she’ll be truly free...and then she can marry the charming fencing instructor she meets for fevered kisses in the forest. But then the impossible happens - a marriage proposal. From a barbarian prince in the north, no less.

Now, decades later, a second vault has been uncovered, this one resting where no one ever expected. And the problem is it's not ours. Yet even more curious than the vault itself is what lies inside. Seeds. Millions of seeds. Each with a genetic embryo untouched and perfectly preserved. Waiting.

Summary
In the aftermath of the War with No Name, the Colony has been defeated, its queen lies dead, and the world left behind will never be the same. In her madness, the queen used a strange technology to uplift the surface animals, turning dogs and cats, bats and bears, pigs and wolves into intelligent, highly evolved creatures who rise up and kill their oppressors. And now, after years of bloodshed, these sentient beasts must learn to live alongside their sworn enemies - humans.
Far removed from this newly emerging civilization, a housecat turned war hero named Mort(e) lives a quiet life with the love he thought he had lost, a dog named Sheba. But before long, the chaos that they escaped comes crashing down around them. An unstoppable monster terrorizes a nearby settlement of beavers. A serial killer runs amok in the holy city of Hosanna. An apocalyptic cult threatens the fragile peace. And a mysterious race of amphibious creatures rises from the seas, intent on fulfilling the Colony's destiny and ridding the earth of all humans. No longer able to run away, Sheba and Mort(e) rush headlong into the conflict, ready to fight but unprepared for a world that seems hell-bent on tearing them apart. In the twilight of all life on earth, love survives - but at a cost that only the desperate and the reckless are willing to pay.

Couldn't finish it...
I have over 200 books in my Audible library. Of those books, there have only been about 6 I couldn't finish. Alas... D'Arc has been added to that list of unfinished books. I really enjoyed Mort(e) and was pleased to see a new addition to the story. Although there is nothing wrong with Robert Repino's writing or Bronson Pinchot's narration (although I do find it a bit too detached and low keyed), I quickly realized that the story itself was at fault. There was nothing here worth telling. I didn't care about these characters, and especially the beavers. While it was interesting to see Mort(e) as the battle scared veteran trying to find peace after a lifetime of war, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was listening to an animalized retelling of Rambo II.

amazing adventure story
Literally the best book
great story of emotion, war, and revolution of a new society after a very unique catastrophe.
one of the best adventures I've ever taken, the structure of the book, the details and the immense back story on all the characters and such, are all so well executed and the best part?
The second book is even better! i haven't gotten to the third yet but i have high hopes.
also the narrator is top notch

It was better than idiotic religious ending
This book was better than the Mort(e) where ending was idiotically religious while it also dissing religion in some ways, I don't know what author is trying to say to others. Anyways, I just liked characters and world chronologically in book 1 but I like story of book 2.

Felt like a bad fan fiction. story all over
I enjoyed Morte, and was excited for this one. But the story was all over the place, a struggle to pay attention to, Morte became so unlikable, as did the likability of many other characters suffered. the worst part was, it felt like an awful fan fiction.
