Summary

Loathed by those who should love her, can one fierce woman discover the secrets of her unique blood in time to be her own rescuer?

Forrest Hesketh desperately clings to humanity. Trapped in an infuriatingly inept wolf form since she was nine years old, the traumatized girl’s hope of regaining her ability to shift is slowly fading. But as her abusive pack plots to kill her, her desperate act to help her kind stepbrother finally triggers the broken young woman’s transformation.

Stunned that suddenly everyone wants her after 14 years of horrific treatment, Forrest struggles to relearn basic skills while dodging kidnappers and assassins. And with a powerful shifter councilman determined to claim her as a mate, even the protection of a gorgeous dragon can’t guarantee her safety.

With monsters closing in, will Forrest’s undaunted courage be enough to keep her alive?

Cursed Wolf is the fast-paced first book in the Creatures of the Otherworld urban fantasy series. If you like strong female characters, slow-burn romances, and stories of supernatural suspense, then you’ll adore Brogan Thomas’ captivating tale.

Brilliant!!

Cursed Wolf is an incredible story, brilliantly written with phenomenally developed characters. The premise definitely took me by surprise; the darker elements of the plot are what made the story. Brogan Thomas did an exceptional job engaging and emotionally connecting her readers/listeners to the heroine. I go through several audiobooks per week, and it's become a rare occurrence where I'm touched by characters' circumstances; Forrest's story totally drew me in.

Forrest is a unique shifter who lived in her wolf form for many years. Also, as a victim of trauma and childhood abuse, her demeanor was clearly impacted. After coaxing herself to shift back into a human, she is confronted with danger and conflict. To me, she was fragile and a survivor with the will to overcome; this contrast is what makes her such a captivating character. Her journey in Cursed Wolf is wrapped in suspense, mystery, plot twists, action, romance, and growth. I'm definitely looking forward to the entire series.

Fantastic narration by Poppy Royana. I was impressed by the quality of her performance; she slipped into the characters and brought them to life. Overall, Cursed Wolf is an excellent start to the Creatures of the Otherworld series, one I'll highly recommend.

Intense

What an intense and interesting shifter story!
Forest is one hell of a shifter, she has gone through so much horribleness in her life, and she doesn’t let it break her.
I have to say Owen is my favorite character.

I absolutely loved this book!!

It's not my usual genre but it kept me gripped from the beginning. I can't wait to see what the rest of the series has in store.

A Rollicking Wild Ride

This book is not for the faint-hearted. The MC's abusive experiences are extensive and intense. In addition the pace of the book and the narration by Poppy Royana is more than a little manic as is MC Forrest herself.

But what a wild ride this book is. It is full length so plenty of time for rich and engaging plot arcs. A minute in, and I was carried away only to stay up way too late reading it. I just HAD to know what was going to happen next. The skilled narration brings the story alive.

In addition, I was very thankful for minimal explicit sex, Both the inner dialogue and conversation was witty and quirky and the characters totally unique, fresh and relatable.

In three words this book is: So incredibly fun. An excellent first book for Brogan Thomas.

Wild and wonderful fantasy ride

Cursed Wolf was brimming with rich and fascinating characters. So many different action packed adventures and a lot of fun too.
Wonderful narration by Poppy Royana, she really brought so much levity and life to Forrest. It was like the book was written for her exclusively!
5* would recommend.

Captivating & Action-Packed

If you love shifter stories this is one you don’t want to miss. The main character Forrest has lived a horrific life full of tragedy. She thinks she is finally free. Then realizes there is so much more she has to fight for.
I love everything about Forrest.
The narrator was brilliant.

Good Story

I loved the MC Forrest she is a Tenacious, good hearted young lady who was put through the most Horrendous circumstances for Years. I have read 1 previous book by this author and Loved it. In this book though Her brother John is a mean disbelieving Jerk who I dislike immensely. Narrator does a Great job on this Story and with all the voices.

You can't keep a good wolf down

Forest has gone through many trials and tribulations in her young life many of which should have broken her but now she back stronger than ever. I really enjoyed this book with its many twist and turns. Poppy Royana did a phenomenal job as narrator bringing the story to life by giving the character emotions. The story may sometimes be heartbreaking and disconcerting but please don't let this turn you off because it gets better. Forest is a kickass heroine and when love is involved nothing stands in her way. This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition.

Wonderful writing, utterly unoriginal plot

I’ve seen copies of this plot all over Facebook for years and there really isn’t anything original in this book at all. However, the inner dialogue is wonderful and the book is well written. This was really hard to rate. I loved the narrator. I’m going to try to find other books she’s done.

Good story rushed conclusion.

I started reading this with my Kindle Unlimited and was not able to finish it due to having to go to work, so I bought the audio version with Whispersync about 1/3 into so I can listen to at work, as I wanted to know what happened to Forrest. I love an underdog story. I love the nicknames she gives everybody. Forrest was a great character to have as our heroine. Overall, I liked this book, but I didn’t like the time jumps and I didn’t like how we as listeners didn’t get to learn how Forrest becomes a bad ass, it made the story a bit unbelievable. I also would have liked to know the side characters better and I wanted her to confront her brother about his neglect. I feel that Brogan Thomas could have made this into 2-3 books to expand on the story line as the second half felt rushed and I was enjoying the story much more, up until about that point when everything felt rushed. Narrator takes a bit to get used to, then she was fine. I will listen to the next in the series if I find it on sale.

Great first story in this new fantasy world

I really liked this debut novel in this series!
YA/NA fantasy about an abused shifter from the age of 9 who can’t shift back into her human form.

There is a love interest but it’s definitely not the main focus of the book. Trigger warnings needed for attempted rape, kidnapping and abuse however these scenes are not descriptive.

We follow the young girl who learns how to rely on herself, great take on a coming of age story. Main character goes from a young naive female into a force to be reckoned with.

I liked the narration, narrators voice fits how you would picture the main character.
Looking forward to the next book in the same universe.

Interesting shifter story

This is the first book that I've had the pleasure of listening to by the Author. I love a good shifter story, and this one doesn't disappoint.

Forrest has a hard time in the beginning, but soon she realizes that she can take care of herself. All she has to do, is to prove that to everyone else.
