Summary

An Irish mobster. A missing friend. Two loyalties, ripping me apart.

I had a plan.

Get in, get my information, and get out. Easy, right?

Turns out, infiltrating the Irish mafia isn't exactly what I thought it would be. I just wanted a soldier. Someone I could flirt with to get me in the door.

That's when Lachlan Crow noticed me. Problem was, he wasn't a soldier. No, he was next in line for the throne of the Irish underworld. And he was determined to hate me from the outset. My sob story about needing a job? Yeah, he wasn't buying that either.

Too bad for him, I won't let anyone get in the way of my mission.

Who cares if we have some kind of crazy chemistry? He's the worst kind of wrong - and I would never in a million years be with a guy like him.

Because they took her from me, and I'm going to make them pay.

Great story but needs an Irish male narrator

I really enjoyed the story and Tracy's voice was really suited to Mac, however, I wish this had been dual narration, having an Irish man's voice would really have brought it to life as listening to Tracy play Lachlan and the male parts, the Irish accent was off.

UNDERWORLD HEA

I thought narrator Tracy Marks was alright especially with her Belfast accent.

I loved Crow an Irish Club & Lachlan 2nd in charge sounds sexy as f**k, someone you couldn't say no to & this is what happened to Mackenzie who had got herself noticed knocking out 1 of their men in the ring. So she then turns up at their club undercover to search & find out what had happened to her childhood friend, who joined their club as a dancer & Mac got nowhere with any police enforcement.
But Lach didn't wavy to know until she gave a div story, then the Russians wanted him to kill her & for him to marry one of their girls.
But he just couldn't do it not knowing why, so these 2 feisty people didn't want love, didn't want each other, well that was until they couldn't stop themselves. So we see these 2 become closer & THEY each know they have to do what they've intended to do so have lied & it's from here after a couple of months they realise their feelings have become stronger & need to tell each other & it's here things start to heat up in the action...

great narration

I really enjoyed the twists and turns through this book. Zavarelli books are pretty predictable but quite gripping. I have enjoyed the ones I've listened to and intend to buy more books from this author.
There was some criticism on the need for a male narrator for such a large male part, I found I didn't notice - which is accolade indeed as I now pick books based more on the narrator than the author, as some gave crucified very good stories with bad narration.

Not great, not bad

It was not bad.
The narration was a bit weird with the female reading both POVs but she was good.
She was dropping the Boston accent quote often but it was actually better in ways.

I enjoyed the storyline

I enjoyed the storyline, it kept me hooked and it has intrigued my interest into the next book although I may read that one.
I personally prefer 2 person narration so that put me off a bit, there were times I was a bit confused as to who’s POV it was as the narrators Boston and Irish accents did blend together at times.

An outstanding audiobook mafia story

Crow is an outstanding mafia, suspense story that is perfect on so many levels. The two main characters Mack and Lach are multi-faceted, with additional supporting characters who add great depth and layers to this world. Mack is fiesty and full of fire. Lach is strong, determined and brooding, but fair and passionate. They make a phenomenal pairing.

The story itself is a complete page-turner. There is mystery, intrigue and blood, searches for the truth, shady dealings, turf-wars and so much more.

I have read this book lots of times now, and I never get tired of it. This book is one of my all time favourites. Infact, the whole 'Boston Underworld' series is amazing, and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys these type of stories. This is a complete stand-alone novel. You do not need to read any other books in the series to enjoy this one.

This time I decided to purchase the audiobook to enjoy it. The narration on this book was perfect.

intense

Loved it. I'm happy I found this series. It's similar to The Mafia and His Angel, Book 1: Tainted Hearts, with "less darkness" and a faster pace.

One of my all time favourites.

I have come to realise that I thoroughly enjoy the dark romance genre, but that the book must also have a very strong plot line to match or exceed the romance. For me, the romance should be part of the story, not THE story. This book ticks all the boxes. The romance was smoking hot, Loch was a character I could stand behind, and an excellent example of a strong, complex lead male and Mac was also an exceptional example of a strong lead female. Neither of the characters over shadowed the other and were both equally as strong in their own right. I didn't feel that one was more dominant than the other, which was surprising and I am quite shocked that I really liked this aspect - considering I am all about alpha males.

The secondary characters have left me guessing and I can not wait to read more about them in their own books. It's so enjoyable to have a novel that has such an interesting plot and I look forward to devouring book two.

Sometimes I feel listening to books on audible deflects and takes away some of my enjoyment, I can quite happily tell you this was not at all the case with this book. The narrator did a fantastic job.

Great Mafia Romance

I am currently loving mafia romance and my first read by A Zavarelli is no different. Told in dual POV we have hot has all hell, Lachlan Crow, the second in command to the Irish Mafia, and Mackenzie Wilder, daughter of an Irish American Boxer, and a girl on a mission to find her missing friend. With no luck from the authorities she decides to infiltrate the Irish underworld and in doing so she succeeds in getting more than she bargained for. With lots of action from the get-go, the story was passionate, it was gritty and the supporting characters did a fantastic job of making it believable (in a far fetched mafia way) I loved the chemistry between Lachlan and Mackenzie, two extremely strong people that have to learn to trust each other whilst not forgetting their end goal, but when feelings start getting involved all bets are off. I will definitely be looking into reading more of Boston Underworld. Tracy Marks did a fantastic job narrating Mackenzie, however I was not keen on her narration or accent of Lachlan, I think I would have preferred a male voice. I received an audible copy of this book at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."
