Summary
Workaholic Detective Aiden Carlisle isn't looking for love - and certainly not at the law-enforcement seminar she reluctantly agreed to attend. But the first lecturer is not at all what she expected.
Psychologist Dawn Kinsley has just found her place in life. After a failed relationship with a police officer, she has sworn never to get involved with another cop again, but she feels a connection to Aiden from the very first moment.
Can Aiden keep herself from crossing the line when a brutal crime threatens to keep them apart before they've even gotten together?
Contains mature themes.

Warning, there might be triggers for some people
I have listened to this story twice already. I love the slow pace, the realistic feelings of someone who's gone through trauma. Not something to listen to if you are going through a period of acute anxiety (I certainly couldn't). Great writing too. Jae has never disappointed me yet (hopefully that'll never happen)

Wonderful love story
The frustration felt by the heroine Aiden when the woman she was strongly attracted to became the victim of an extremely brutal hate crime was so well written I just couldn't stop reading. Jae is now responsible for my losing manyhours of sleep lol. I'm still only half way through but totally hooked on the slowly developing relationship between the main characters, and Abby Craden just has to be one of the best narrators I've heard so far, she tells the story so well. And although I've not finished the book yet I've already bought Book 2. Please Jae, let's have more in this series

A joy to listen to.
A good long story. The narrator has a lovely voice and uses different tones for different characters. Definitely buying the next in the series.

Brilliantly written. I was so drawn in by this!
What a powerful read. This book ticked all the boxes for me! The story covered so much and I loved the legal aspect and every detail of the lives of the main characters.
Sensitive parts of this book were written with such, care, compassion, and knowledge. I feel like Jae really thought about realistically portraying themes around assault, healing, recovery and re-establishing trust.
Will listen to this one again for sure. I look forward to reading the second book!

Fabulous narration for a story of love.
I enjoyed the pace of the book. It is very well written, full of humour to add relief to the shocking and grotesque rape. I love the characters - the variety, their friendships, families, children,
