Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The up-all-night thriller from the Sunday Times best seller Cara Hunter.

Midnight. A callout to an isolated farm outside Oxford. A body, shot at point blank range in the kitchen.

It looks like a burglary gone wrong, but DC Adam Fawley suspects there's something more to it. Who exactly was the aggressor here?

When the police discover a connection to a high-profile case from years ago, involving a child's murder and an alleged miscarriage of justice, the press go wild.

Suddenly Fawley's team are under more scrutiny than ever before. And when you dig up the past, you're sure to find a few skeletons....

Great !

Really enjoyed this latest installment of the this series. The who’s who description of the CID team at the beginning was helpful as there are a lot of characters to keep straight.
The story was quite gripping and took some unexpected turns. The narration was very good. I’m looking forward to the next one.

Another winner from Cara Hunter

I thought I’d guessed the outcome before we got to the end so I was delighted that I was wrong! I’ve really enjoyed this series of book and the main characters. Hopefully there will be more.

Great storyline

I love this series but Emma Cuncliffe is such a poor narrator- the uncomfortable pauses mid-sentence and her bland tone almost ruin it for me. Lee Ingleby as ever superb

An Easy 5*

This is one of my fabourite series and I pre-order every book, so did a little happy dance when this dropped into my Audible library. Cara Hunter writes the most intricately plotted books, which hook you in right from the start and this one was no exception.

The case was fairly complex and had me stumped right until the last sentence! The story is told from different POVs and as ith the other books in the series there are social media comments, emails, police interview transcripts, phone conversations, and even a Netflix documentary commentary. It was a joy to be back in Oxford with DI Fawley, whose personal life is much more settled and happy than in previous book as he now has a new baby daughter. Some of the team have moved on in this book and there are a couple of new additions and the 'Who's Who' at the beginning is great for anyone new to the series or people with failing memories like mine!

An easy 5* and the narration by Lee Ingleby and Emma Cunniffe is excellent.

Couldn’t stop listening, so good!

I have absolutely loved this Detective series I can’t recommend every single one of Cara Hunters books in this series enough.
Unique and very clever plot lines which really do keep you guessing and at the edge of your seat until the very end.
Well written and narrated and characters and the relationships they have with each other you get to really care about.
Hoping this isn’t the last in the series Cara! 🙏🏼
