Summary

Book 8 of the Demon Accords.

College. A time of transition from youth to young adulthood. New lessons, new responsibilities, new distractions. A period of life treasured by most. Unless you happen to attend an institute of higher learning where the bullies are werewolves, the teachers are sadists, and the pretty girls are all deadly. A school like that demands a special kind of student, someone with the skills and power to survive. Someone like Declan O'Carroll.

small steps some character development

the last book had some pacing issues. this one improves but then disappoints with forced character changed that seem entirely avoidable and just seem pre planned for future books. this feels like character derail.

the plot is great and fleshes out the world a lot more but this feels like more of a world building / exposition novel.

overall an entertaining story that wasnt as satisfying as previous entries.

-spoiler-
caeco and declan split up and it feels off. the rationale at the end (age etc) makes sense and the other girls vying for attention makes sense but i enjoy the chemistry between D and C. so it feels strangely forced considerin it gets swept under the rug in the last chapter.

the plot obstacles seem rushed and even though resolution could probably be reached it isnt shown in the text leaving it feeling arbitrary a scene showing them discussing things or going over it all could have at least given a more satisfying (for the reader) sense of closure. this is a personal take - it just bothered me and overshadowed the rest of an otherwise entertaining book.

Accents

The narrator really needs to meet some Irish people. His accent in this is appalling and ruined large parts of the story for me. Knowing from the last chapter that there is an Australian character in the next book for him to mangle is not filling me with anticipation in listening to it.

Brilliant storyline

Wow..each book in this series is better than the previous one..I love how the story has split into separate storylines yet links it all together

Brilliant!

I have been a fan of the series but have put off reading this off shoot for a while as I like Chris but I'm really glad I took the plunge and glad I only have to wait until tomorrow for the next one :)

Pleasantly surprised

The story follows some months after the events of the previous book.
I enjoy the character of Declan and find his story good and who is shaping up to be another op protagonist. But there's 2 op protagonists now sharing the same storyline. John Conroe seems to be favouriting Declans' character over his previous protagonist, Chris
Who in this book is relegated to a secondary character (barely seen) and subsequent books onwards until book 11.
This series should be about Chris and Tanya's story line. Declan should get his own spin-off series of books. But from now onwards till book 11, it's Declan heavy.

chapter 20?

before I leave my review, did everyone get chapter 20? I end chapter 19 and then straight to chapter 21.
I'm wondering if I've missed any key points in the story.
now, my review,
I wasn't really looking forward to this book, simply because it wasn't to do with Chris and the crew, but I have to say, glad I was proved wrong. I really enjoyed it. I'm actually looking forward to more about their adventures,

Best yet

I think that this Demon Accords book has to be my favourite so far. Really enjoyed the relationships between the characters. Very well written.

Didn't think I would enjoy it, but I did.

I wasn't super stoked on a whole book away from the A-team but this turned out great. Also had a great laugh when they named dropped my workplace while I was working.

The book is pretty much a great expansion of the Demon Accord's world, and it's written well within those parameters. Like how the son of an Alpha would act and behave. How witches do things for power or how and ancient book wants a more powerful host.

Only gripe I have with it is the narrator that don't seem to quite manage 2 different male main characters, they pretty much sound the same. It isn't a problem while they aren't in the same room but a dialogue is hard.

Loved this series

Loved this series. Its even better how the narrator gives a voice to each character and you really feel all emotions from his voices, joy, sadness, humor, this has lead me to by the rest of this series and lots more books the narrator does.
