Disappointing

As a sufferer of depression and anxiety, I was expecting a positive, uplifting, encouraging message. The narrator has a terribly monotone voice and this is really more for students and second-rate therapists.

Excellent intro to CBT

I've been looking for a simple, easy to navigate explanation of CBT. As a disabled woman, it's easy to feel depressed and anxious. Negative thoughts about my self and societal worth are frequently present, and it's very easy to fall into the trap of believing my limitations are catastrophic and unchangeable.

Good advice that requires commitment not more

I found this book to be a mostly easy read. Other than the occasional tangent into technical jargon, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Good advice that is easy to implement and doesn't cost much (if any) money.

Wonderfully Surprised

Most wonderful is the embrace of religion, spirituality and philosophy as a practice in cognitive behavioral therapy. It is a breath of fresh air in an all too secular world. Word, meditation and prayer are highly valued. Philosophy, from the Greeks, is shown to embody much of what is cognitive behavioral therapy.

Lovely Illustrations

A beautiful, profound and poetic tale of a parent's love for their child. It tells about how a parent and child see time differently. However, they can still enjoy a beautiful moment together. This is a picture book with lovely illustrations that goes along perfectly with this story.

Great book for personal use or in group

It's very easy to use for an individual or in a session with clients. I like that there are "homework" type questions at the end of each chapter and worksheets you can photocopy to hand out or just use yourself

CBT Expertise at Your Fingertips

Practical, grounded in research, accessible. In my podcast interview with Dr. Author, it became clear he has a solid grasp of CBT. His book is full of exercises that don’t require a doctor’s help.

Wonderfully Surprised

I found this book to be a mostly easy read. Other than the occasional tangent into technical jargon, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Good advice that is easy to implement and doesnt cost much (if any) money. I liked that it mentions various religions without placing anyone above the others, allowing the reader to take in the knowledge without judgement.
