About this listen

I close my eyes and feel my heart begin racing. Someone is coming. They're going to find me.

A mother and her teenage daughter are found brutally murdered in a remote farmhouse, one defiled by multiple stab wounds and the other left lying like Sleeping Beauty waiting for her Prince. Reluctantly, clinical psychologist Joe O'Loughlin is drawn into the investigation when a former student, calling himself the Mindhunter, trading on Joe's name, has jeopardised the police inquiry by leaking details to the media and stirring up public anger.

With no shortage of suspects and tempers beginning to fray, Joe discovers links between these murders to a series of brutal attacks where the men and women are choked unconscious and the letter A is carved into their foreheads. As the case becomes ever more complex, nothing is quite what it seems, and soon Joe's fate, and the fates of those closest to him, become intertwined with a merciless, unpredictable killer....

Once again, amazing!

Another amazing story in this unrivalled crime series. Emotional and heartwarming, tragic and devastating. Every part, the truly psychological drama, with one of the best narrative styles I have ever read/heard. You care about every character, and can visualize every scene. Excellent! Fabulous! Can't wait for the next book!

Excellent narration and good story

Mr Barrett makes even mediocre stories listenable but this is a good who-done-it yarn which keeps you guessing. Worth listening to.

Intriguing

I'm an avid listener of crime fiction but lately haven't found anything that kept me guessing, that is untill this book. Close your eyes is probably my favourite book of the last 40 that I have downloaded. It is the first I have read by this author and will be looking for more by Micheal Robothum and narrated by Sean Barrett .

Another class act

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Brilliantly narrated with the most unexpected and poignant endings. I love Joe, the laconic Ruiz and now daughter Charlie adds her stubborn spice to this great series. I won't give away any of the plot, sufficient to say that diehards won't be disappointed and new fans will be collected. Roll on the next one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ruiz, dry doesn't come close to his sense of humour. Joe, so self-deprecating. Charlie, a young lady who really knows her mind. Mind you I also love Emma's non-stop chatter.

What about Sean Barrett’s performance did you like?

One of the best narrators out there. Characters consistent, you know who's speaking and its unhurried with good pace.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending! Heart breaking!

Any additional comments?

Persuade him to write faster and get the next one out!

Confusing at first.

i loved the narrator's voice, but for the first part of the book I did not realise that sometimes Frances the murderer was speaking and sometimes Joe the psychologist was. This was because the narrator used exactly the same voice for both characters. This made the first part of the book very confusing.

Wonderful story

At first I struggled to get into this book I found the the narrators voice hard to listen to and hard to distinguish between two of the characters you hear first but I am so glad I stuck with it and the more I got used to narrator it wasn't a problem at all.

The story really pulls you in and the ending is unlike many stories you read.

Overall a fantastic read and I will definitely look out for more by this author.

Gripping story

I really enjoyed this story, it had enough suspense and intrigue to keep me going on my holiday. My only thought was it would have been helpful if the narrator distinguished between the main character's voice and the murderer. At a few points, especially at the beginning, I wasn't sure who was speaking.
