Summary

In the depths of Calth's arcology network, the Underworld War has raged for years. Aeonid Thiel, previously an honoured sergeant of the Ultramarines, once again finds himself in trouble. Pitted against the daemonic forces of the Word Bearers, he has no choice but to venture back to the ravaged surface and brave the deadly solar flares that have scoured all life from this world. With a lowly Imperial Army trooper as his only companion, it falls to him to drive the maniacal Dark Apostle Kurtha Sedd and his warband from the overrun XIII Legion stronghold.

Calth

Well acted (as most Black Library audiobooks are) and the story is alright, but it doesn't seem to actually go anywhere. Calth has always seemed to offer such a wealth of storytelling events that Black Library never mines. It's a tragedy that's come and gone and hey-ho on to the next story. But then, maybe that's the nature of the whole Heresy arc-it's all a means to just get us to Terra...

I'm officially a fan of the Ultramarines

This was awesome and I've come to really like Ultramarines because of this. They are tough as nails.

aeonid thiel is back again

another engagement on calth and a humanizing story, the will and capabilities of a mere mortal coming to the fore and reminding the reader that on the grim darkness of the 31st millennium, you will not be missed.
