CALLING

I really loves this series of books. I am hoping there will be more to come. It's a female Harry Potter in my eyes.

Hate this series

I love all (almost all) of MH novellas and novels. I’ve read all of her series over and over and enjoy them as much as I did the first time reading them…this YA series is so awful and not even close to the creativity or humor I’ve enjoyed and expect when reading MH. I forced my way through the first 2 in the series, but I just can’t force myself to finish the 3rd. I realize that I am older than the intended YA audience, but this has never kept me from reading and enjoying other YA series (Twilight, Hunger Games, etc.) this is just awful. Poor Amanda Ronconi having to use that accent - UGH! Please MH, now that you’ve attempted this niche, go back to what you do best, please.

After waiting what seemed like forever!

I really like this series but do find it all a bit rushed like too much is just squeezed in and you don’t have time to really enjoy it before it’s over! It is a fairly unique series and one that I will repeatedly listen to!

Hopefully, there will be another in this series

The team of Harper and Ronconi have done it again!
Molly writes the most wonderful tales and Amanda brings them to life.

Solid outing in a compelling world

Solid outing in a compelling, if somewhat derivative world. The narrator is excellent and many of the ideas fun enough. This book the third in the series is unfortunately not the best of the trilogy but provided an opportunity for some of the supporting characters to be fleshed out a bit more. All in all a fun listen.

unfulfilling

Too much was said, not shown. Too much was given, not earned.

Example, in one of the fights, the MC suddenly sees a gap in the bad lady's defenses and uses a spell to attack and knock her down.

There was no trial and error. There were no try-fail cycles. When things finally did work, it wasn't effort but "instinct" and "the magic wants it."

Plus, it has been too long since I read books 1 and 2, so I was barely interested in the characters. Plus, the magic system is soooo soft with almost no rules.

A great end to the series

This is the final book in the trilogy and was wrapped up well with an exciting conclusion. Amanda Ronconi does a wonderful job narrating the characters into life. The story picks up where the last book ended. Sarah, Ivy and Alicia are still hiding with the children they rescued from the Crenshaw School. They are still trying to figure out how to resurrect the Mother Book and defeat the evil Ms Morton. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, magic, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. The characters are portrayed realistically as teenagers who are kind of bumbling along with the best intentions. They are real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really trying to just do their best as messy humans in difficult situations. The story included witty dialogue, characters with depth who grow, and an engaging storyline.

Amazing narrator

Amanda Ronconi is my favorite narrator and this trilogy was a good one. So glad I stumbled upon it!
