About this listen
From Joshua Dalzelle comes the follow-up to the number-one best seller Warship. Captain Jackson Wolfe survived the initial incursion of a vicious alien species into human space...barely. He had assumed the juggernaut that had devastated three Terran systems was the herald for a full invasion, but for the last few years it has been eerily quiet along the Frontier. Jackson now struggles to convince the Confederate leadership the threat is still imminent and needs to be taken seriously. While powerful factions make backroom deals, he is desperate to find irrefutable proof that the invaders are coming, and if humanity expects to survive they must marshal their forces and make a stand before it's too late.

Brilliant Listen
The second book in the Black Fleet trilogy was every bit as good, if not more so, than Book 1. The action kept you on the edge of your seat, which meant I really had a hard job putting it down, so I didn’t. I completed it in a day.
I am really glad that Mark Boyett was kept as narrator as he really brings the action to life.
My only disappointment is that I will have to wait for Book 3. Withdrawal symptoms are already setting in!

Excellent series!
You kinda always expect the second book in a series to be a little different from the first. But this kicked off where the first left us, and held my interest the whole way through. One of the best audiobooks I've listened to for sure. The writing and research (or service) was second to none, and the attention to detail for the science and the reality here was great, throughout both the first book and this, it just keeps on getting better. Of course there's the whole 'warp drive' but we love Star Trek... so why not. It all felt plausible and real and that is what matters to at least someone like me, who isn't so tech minded.
The characters developments is also great, each one grows with their actions, not like some I've listened to, the 'hero' worship for Wolf is hard on him, but the people who have been through what they did in book 1 have great reason to hero worship him and although he doesn't feel like it, he deserves it.
Wolf is a little wreckless a lot more than some might be in his shoes, but without him, well I think the human race would have been wiped out by now.
Great second book and I was so hooked I started the third into the weekend (I never listen through sat or sun, they're my days off from the driving job. lol!

Absolutely terrific
I've tried a fair few audio books looking for a compelling story of how humanity would stand up in space and this story will take some beating. Well narrated, very compelling story and good balance of build up and action.

Super predictable but fun space romp
Much better pacing the Warship, total page turner. I still find the characters a bit flat but it's the only weak part in this fun adventure.

Very Babylon 5 esque
Even better than book 1. Really enjoying this series. Great narration enhances the story. Really does have the smell of Babylon 5 especially season 4.
Roll on the next one!

Enjoyable
Really liked this book and the series had no issue paying for the last book in the series. I think Joshua books encapsulates the flaws of the human condition, regardless of our technicial advancement our species seems unable to put aside the ability for self sabotage and self preservation.
Good fun
