Summary
Jane Yellowrock is a vampire killer for hire - but other creatures of the night still need to watch their backs....
When the Master of the city of New Orleans asks Jane to improve security for a future visit from a delegation of European vampires, she names an exorbitant price - and Leo is willing to pay. That’s because the European vamps want Leo’s territory, and he knows that he needs Jane to prevent a total bloodbath. Leo, however, doesn’t mention how this new job will change Jane’s life or the danger it will bring her and her team.
Jane has more to worry about than some greedy vampires. There’s a vicious creature stalking the streets of New Orleans, and its agenda seems to be ripping Leo and her to pieces. Now Jane just has to figure out how to kill something she can’t even see.…

Loved it and I want more.
I am a complete fan of the Yellow Rock series and this book was my favourite. Please don't make me wait a year for the next book. This book was fast paced, nail biting and set you up to truely want more. Thanks Faith.
Jane is firmly set in New Orleans and it is all about the Vamps this time round. Her friendship with the Youngers sits well in this book and we spend more time with my favourite character BRUISER.
A must for any fan of the books. If you haven't listen or read these books. Do. You will enjoy them if you are a fan of the genre.

Brilliant as Always
What did you like most about Broken Soul?
I loved what happened around page 210 (I think) it is what I had hoped for since book 3 and the dance scene. Very strong story - nothing is easy for Jane and she manages to overcome it all.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Broken Soul?
I loved the scene where Jane and Derek are talking on the steps to the Mansion - it showed the strength of comradeship between two soldiers.
What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?
I enjoy the fact that each character has well established voices. She has power in her voice where needed and can show gentleness for thought in the spoken word
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I felt for Jane when she had the very short telephone conversation with her ex and the courage she showed to realise that that area of her life had ended
Any additional comments?
I love the Jane Yellowrock book series and would and have recommended them to friends. Faith Hunter is one of my favourite authors. A brilliant book, brilliantly written.

great story
this was just as gripping as the others so far.the only thing that made my listening less enjoyable was the mis-reading of alot of words...depth said as deeps.juan said as jooann for example.it is a mistake that is repeated in each book and really irritates as the books go on.many words wrongly spoken.book itself is great reader not so much.

I am speechless.
I went into this book worried that Jane would be moping about the events of the last book. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised. Yes there were a few thoughts but they were storng "leave it in the past" thoughts.
The action packed story of Jane/Beast really heated up in this book in more ways than one.
God I love a man that understands a woman so well he leaves her stuttering and speechless.
We learn a lot more about Jane and her abilities. We also get to see our questions about a few of the others answered.
This book is my new favorite.
Don't miss out; you won't be disappointed.

What a great team!
What made the experience of listening to Broken Soul the most enjoyable?
Finally the next installment! I must have a true addiction to this series because I have been jonesing for a JY fix. I am now riding the bliss of the mental rehash of this newest adventure.
What other book might you compare Broken Soul to and why?
The closest, but not exactly the same, would be the Patricia Briggs', Mercy Thompson books. Although I don't care for the Alpha and Omega spin off books. I also like Connie Suttle's Blood Wager books as a comparison.
Which scene was your favorite?
Too many good ones to choose from.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! Of course I already said I have an addiction.
Any additional comments?
Urban fantasy readers cannot call themselves fans of this genre without reading/listening to this series. There are a couple production issues on the audio version but they don't detract from the book as a whole.

Faith Hunter does it again!
They just keep getting better!!!! Wow! Jane continues to kick butt, learn more about herself, and Beast, and...... I can't say anymore without giving anything away. Faith draws you in from the beginning, and you feel like you are right there with the characters. I can't get enough of Jane's world!

A Whole Lot of Action!
Since "Action" seems to be Jane Yellowrock's middle name, it shouldn't be surprising that the 8th installment in the series would be loaded with the stuff! The book is also exciting, engrossing and in some instances very surprising!
In this book, Jane continues to work with the Younger brothers as they team up to unravel several mysteries coming at them from different directions at the same time. There is something big, aggressive and invisible chasing Jane, and something in the Master of the City's possession which is drawing attackers to vamp HQ, forcing Jane to resolve before the European vamps come to Leo's territory for an official "visit".
There are poignant, funny and yummy scenes where Faith Hunter develops and expands the depth of her characters. Beast, of course, is her usual no-nonsense self, developing quite a dry sense of humor as she and Jane evolve together. Nice touch in the middle of all that fighting and chasing!
I highly recommend this installment in Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series. Faith is very good about adding background to the current story for newcomers, so don't be afraid to start here then go back to the first book of the series, Skinwalker to get the rest of Jane's story.

Another great Yellowrock adventure
What made the experience of listening to Broken Soul the most enjoyable?
As always I look forward to the revels of skinwalker history and Jane's / Beast's duality.
What other book might you compare Broken Soul to and why?
understandably the structure is very much like Black Arts.
What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The voicings of the characters like the inflections she's uses. When reading for me I would have to read the book a couple times before getting those types of things in my head.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
without any real spoilers but the duality of Jane / Beasts soul.
Any additional comments?
Again without any real spoilers I wasn't too keen on the hook-up,s till don't trust that one. ;-)

Jane and Beast getting better all the time
What did you love best about Broken Soul?
I've loved this series since it first started and Khristine Hyam is it voice of all the characters done perfectly. This is Urban Para-Normal at it's best. You never really know what's coming around the corner until you get there. This one is a real emotional roller-coaster, and I loved every moment. .
What was one of the most memorable moments of Broken Soul?
So many, and they would all be spoilers if I went into why they were memorable.
Which scene was your favorite?
I don't want to spoil this for anyone but when Jane and Beast have a conversation in the "Gray Space" It really is memorable in many way, and they have more than one.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes a moment with Wrestler, I don't want to spoil that either.
Any additional comments?
I love this series, for many reasons, 1st being it is so different than any other urban para-normal out there, and many of them are great. Also Khristine Hyam is the voice of this series, she does French accents, and language, Cajun, N'Orleans, and just plain speak perfectly She would be great doing just about anything I believe, but she makes this series work on Audible. Looking forward to the next Jane Yellowrock book, eagerly. .

Everything is Better with Bacon!
WOW. Just WOW. Um where to begin. It's going to be hard to talk about BROKEN SOUL without spoiling so I'll try to keep it short.
Let's the narration out-of-the-way. Khristine Hvam is Jane and Beast. NO ONE else could narrate Jane Yellorock any better! Hvam's delivery of Faith Hunter's characters are flawless. She nails it every time and is the reason this series is on my audio only list. Hunter's writing is amazing, there's no doubt but Hvam is like putting chocolate sauces and a cherry on top of the goodness that is Jane Yellowrock.
The series is very detailed and you really must focus on what's going on. I made the mistake of zoning out for a few minutes while I was listening at work and ended up totally lost. Things were moving so fast I had to back up the audio to pick up the details I had missed. The whole novel is non-stop action from beginning to end.
BROKEN SOUL starts out as one kind of book and with all the twists and complex plot lines ends up being something I didn't see coming. WOW Jane and Beast keep evolving into this unstoppable team of two souls in one body. Well, is that really one body since Jane can physically shift into Beast's form? Mmm...
I've read other UF series where the main characters are weres, shifters, skinwalkers, etc and none have been done as well as Hunter's Jane and Beast. The way they communicate is original. They really are two heroines sharing a space. And with the events of the previous book, BLACK ARTS and with what takes place here, neither has an idea where they are heading.
And for those who've been wanting some ON PAGE romance for Jane... you get it. It's not smutty because this is Jane after all but we get details that are satisfying. And I can't wait to see how that part of Jane's (and Beast's!) life changes. I think she's finally ready for a true mate!

Writing is Superb - Could not stop Listening
This series only gets better and better. I absolutely love the characters, the way the author describes the characters and the story. Kristine Hyam is an excellent narrator and I must say, actress. She knows how to do dialect and character voices.
I give this book my top rating. It was enjoyable to again, enjoy an audio book from beginning to end.
