I'm in love with my best friend's girl. She knows it. He knows it. Everyone knows it. Faye will never be mine, but try telling that to my stupid heart. Story
In fifth grade my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed. It didn't take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever. For the next seven years, it was us. She's the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.

Luna Rexroth is everyone’s favorite wallflower. Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wants - namely, the boy from the tree house who taught her how to curse in sign language. Who taught her how to laugh. To live. To love. Knight Cole is everyone’s favorite football hero. This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna. But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesn’t need his protection anymore.

I have a simple plan. Finish Royal Elite School and get into my dream university. One glance from the school’s king blows my plan up in smoke. One glance and he suffocates my air. One glance and he issues his death sentence. His first words spiral my life into irreparable chaos. “I will destroy you.” Everything about Aiden King is black. Black mind. Black heart. Black soul. I should’ve remained quiet and endured the time I have left. I didn’t. I made the irrevocable mistake of provoking the king on his throne.

Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory - namely, his wallet. Now he's staring me down like I'm the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I'm supposed to take it. But the thing about being Judith "Jude" Humphry is I have nothing to lose. Brooklyn girl. Infamously quirky. Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.

It was a hot summer day when I met him on the construction site next to my parents' house. Under the sweat and dirt, Manning Sutter was as handsome as the sun was bright. He was older, darker, experienced. I wore a smiley-face t-shirt and had never even been kissed. I was too young, he said. I would wait. But I'd learn that no matter what you achieve in life, it means nothing if you suffer the heartbreak that comes with falling for someone you can never have. Because even though I saw Manning first, that didn't matter. My older sister saw him next.

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother. And that his best friend has a crush on me. And that I just moved in with them. Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

West Golden - so easy to hate, yet so hard to resist. Don’t let that pretty face of his fool you. He isn’t the boy next door, or the kind you trust with your heart. He’s the devil in designer jeans, with all the charm of a bona fide psycho. Trust me. He swears I did something to cross him before I even stepped foot inside Cypress Prep, but it’s a lie. No one knows better than me that I’m all out of chances. His money, status, and the loyalty of his equally entitled brothers makes him seem untouchable. Only, I know better than that.

Summary
These Royals will ruin you...From wharf fights and school brawls to crumbling lives inside glittery mansions, one guy tries to save himself.
Reed Royal has it all - looks, status, money. The girls at his elite prep school line up to date him, the guys want to be him, but Reed never gave a damn about anyone but his family until Ella Harper walked into his life.
What started off as burning resentment and the need to make his father's new ward suffer turned into something else entirely - keep Ella close. Keep Ella safe. But when one foolish mistake drives her out of Reed's arms and brings chaos to the Royal household, Reed's entire world begins to fall apart around him.
Ella doesn't want him anymore. She says they'll only destroy each other.
She might be right.
Secrets. Betrayal. Enemies. It's like nothing Reed has ever dealt with before, and if he's going to win back his princess, he'll need to prove himself Royally worthy.

Bored of the drama
The first book in the series was fun in an over the top telenovela soap opera kind of way, but I found myself getting bored of it all in this one ..to the point that I fell asleep and missed a chapter or two and couldn’t even be bothered to rewind to catch up.
The drama is only fun if you’re emotionally invested in the characters, but I’m not. Spoiled, one track mind rich kids with a sense of entitlement and no personality, skill or drive aren’t interesting to be for some reason. All of them can lose it all and their lives turn to rubbish and I wouldn’t care in the least.

🙄 Frustrating
Female character is the stupidest human ever. Who would think to just give away 100s of millions of dollars to someone who hates you. All any of the characters have to do is tell the dad about Brooke. Instead they decide to deal with her belittling them and planning to steal their inheritance. The female character asks the dumbest questions. She has the same internal argument multiple times. This book is very frustrating. I’m only finishing because I’ve invested 6 hours plus the first book. I will give the 3rd book a chance. Hopefully it’s better.

It's like a train wreck
You want to stop cause the story isn't really that great, the characters are not that memorable, and it's a but too predictable, however, if you have a curious bone in you unfortunately can't stop till your at the end and shocked you made it that far. Hell it's smut, better than most smut, but still smut.

Good story, Bad recording
Would you try another book from Erin Watt and/or Angela Goethals and Zachary Webber ?
yes
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I felt both narrators were very good. However I did need to adjust the speed each time it changed narrator. The woman spoke much much slower than the man. It was annoying to keep changing the speed. But I did like the story.

Much better than the first book. Less Sex more responsibility. Bringing the male narrator was an amazing idea. I wish he narratores the first one. This made me realized how bad the female voice actoer was when portraying the boys (overly masculine and the accent was too heavy).

Female narrator ruined it for me
Would you be willing to try another one of Angela Goethals and Zachary Webber ’s performances?
Zachary Webber, definitely. He is always fantastic and sold me on Reed. Angelea Goethais, never again. I read the first book in the series and really enjoyed it. In the written version, I read Ella as such a feisty strong character. This narrator read her parts in a depressed monotone and SO SLOWLY. Ella sounded drugged or half asleep. It completely ruined the story for me.
Any additional comments?
Right at the start of the book, one of the characters was incredibly mean and manipulative and another character just completely fell for it. He didn't use his brains to solve the problem and came across as weak and stupid. I know it drives the plot, but if felt over the top.
I may try to finish this book in written form. As much as I love Zachary Webber, I just can't listen to female narrator anymore. I'm returning.

Frustrating
It’s like it’s written by someone who isn’t wealthy, doesn’t know extreme wealth but naively thinks this is how ‘rich people’ live and act. Large sums of money are casually thrown around and all the rich people cliches are used and it’s stupid. I loathe when the rich people are inexplicably evil or nasty and the poor girl is a perfect Saint by virtue of nothing other than wealth and status. Then the mean rich people are schooled by the stripper trailer trash and suddenly go from hating and being mindlessly cruel to her to fawning all over her and acting like they’re all lost and nothing without her. I also hate when the girls are clueless virgins, but easily orgasm every time a corny g-rated sexual encounter occurs. They also give the best bjs despite being totally inexperienced dorks while the guy has had countless women—it’s just so silly.
I like the books enough to be curious to want to see the story through but the ‘whoa plot twist’ thing the author likes to do at the end of each book is frustrating. And the two bimbo characters of Brooke and Davina or whatever her name is makes this book very frustrating. When characters are drawn to have absolutely nothing human or redeeming about them, the writer appears untrained, unsophisticated in character development and naive.
