Summary

Opposites attract when a bashful librarian and a ruggedly handsome cop with a dark past meet one day in the Colorado woods—and dare to test their chemistry . . .

There's nothing like the first time . . .

In Carnal, Colorado, Faye Goodknight is the town's quiet, shy librarian. She may also be Carnal's last remaining virgin. For years, Faye has had a crush on Chace Keaton, but the gorgeous cop has always been unattainable. She's resigned to live contentedly with only her books for company—until Faye suddenly meets Chace alone in the woods . . .

Chace doesn't think he's the good guy everyone believes him to be. He's made a lot of choices he regrets, including denying his feelings for Faye. Through his choices, he's come to believe the pretty librarian is too good for him, but after their time in the woods, Chace realizes that she may be his last chance for redemption. Soon, their long simmering desires grow to a burning passion. Yet always casting a shadow over their happiness is Chace's dark past . . .

very disappointing .

I adore all Kristin ashley books and as soon as I had 3 credits I purchased three of my four favourite KA books on audio in one purchase . I know in hindsight I should have listened to the sample clip but as KA is a quality author, I presumed likewise for the narator of this book, and unfortunately the same narator reads the other two books also. Like I said, the stories are terrific, but the lady performing the audio has got to stop changing her tone when reading the guys parts as the male characters sound like they should be in a retirement home. It's seriously very very annoying to hear a much loved story turned into something cringworthy. Again this isn't a review of the actual story, but the audio performance. I would ask the performer to just read the books but stop attempting a male voice because it's killing the story. I don't know if I can return audio books for a refund, but I want to look into it as I now have three I can't listen to. Sorry if I sound harsh but I was not expecting this.

LOVED this book and everyone in it. Faye and Chace were perfect for each other. I will say he was a big j3rk at the beginning...just like each guy in the other books is. I love that you got a little visit from not only the characters from other books in this series, but also a little visit from the rock chicks! Its a shame I put this series off for so long because it is proving to me one of my favorites. Steamy, suspense, sweet, and some deep, sad moments.

Chase and Faye

KA books are my autobuy! Loved this one, Faye the innocent librarian and Chase the slightly sullied policeman who's life was disrupted by his father's and his boss's shenanigans.

Beautiful story

Loved this book much more than I expected to. Both main characters really drew me in and, as always, it was great to reconnect to the characters from previous books. The narrator Emma Taylor did an AMAZING job as always. Love her voice

Another Excellent Installment in This Series

Book 4 of the Colorado Mountain Series and I they just keep getting better. This one was is sweet and funny, it will make you laugh and cry. Chace is one of my favorite characters and it was great to see him heal and get his happily ever after. Although this is #4 in the series, all the books in the series can stand alone. This is a long listen, but it will go by quick. Worth the credit.

Not a good 'listen' for me.

Purchased a couple of her books because of great reviews and I love westerns. I always try to get the longest book I can for my credits. This particular 21 hour book would have probably been closer to 10 or 12 had they taken out the 'f---' word. It was used just about every sentence in the strangest of places. I can't imagine it is that commonplace. Maybe I'm just too old school! :-) Great narration and storyline though. It seemed definite 'overkill' in the language department.Thought there might be someone else who might like to know this up front!

FRACKIN' AMAZING--ALL HEART & SIMPLY BREATHTAKING!

You know, I'm not sure how Kirsten Ashley (K.A.) does it-----How she keeps creating these very compelling, insanely beautiful and deep books about characters who are gripping & full-bodied. This book has so many layers that you will find yourself tearing up, feeling elation, triumphant and indignant, at times. You have vintage KA hero & heroine: the hero Chace Keaton, detective-badass who tends to speak in phrases (no pronouns needed), and a heroine, Faye Goodnight, who is cute, sweet, innocent and classy….who needs extra moments to process compelling information, signaled by an extra "blink" or a "pardon" or an inquiring, "I'm sorry?" LOL---That's just classic KA writing. Oh, but regarding the heroine--OMG, isn't her last name so cute??? And, she's also a geek…definitely an adorable, sexy geek. I adored the references to Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars and even Game of Thrones in pockets of the book.

I loved the leads….OK, yes, they had to look like a gorgeous couple--Chase with his vivid blue eyes, dark blonde hair, athletic build, and Faye with her brilliant blue eyes, auburn hair and hourglass figure, but more than that, they fit emotionally, psychologically and chemically….Haha… I loved how Chase fell for Faye in the aisle of a grocery store, while her nose was in a book. But, I felt happy for Chase when he began to bask in his love with Faye because he suffered so much previously. In Faye he found an "angel" to heal his wounds and carry his "dark." In the previous book, Chase was such a mysterious character with a lot of bad crap surrounding him with the good cop/bad cop history he had. Yet, I couldn't help but feel that Chase was always the man who was like someone outside of a house looking in through a window longing for a life he could never have, when he gazed upon the happiness of other couples. So, Chase and Faye's realization of their love was passionate, powerful and an all-engulfing sentimental affair.

Like any of KA's book in this Colorado Mountain series you have a community that comes together to help save the day, you have a band of alpha males who talk "man-talk," and a fabulous group of women who show concern and are extremely supportive of one another. I mean if Carnal was a real biker town with the characters KA describes, I would totally love to come and hang for a long time…LOL

Lastly, the additional subplots were emotionally gripping….who could forget the boy who found comfort in books, and the beginning stages of healing of a father-son relationship long past damaged. Yes, this book hit on all of my heart strings. Bravo KA!!! Another excellent book in this series!

Narrator- Emma Taylor is excellent and always does a wonderful job in her narration.

5 Breathe Stars

I figure 3rd time listening to this baby its time to review it. I first listened to this book it wasn’t my favorite, I thought ok probably won’t read it again. Then I did a series re read and liked it better the second time. Well 3rd time was a charm because I loved it this time.

You see Chase is the towns cop, he helped make the police force clean again in Carnal. But he has a lot of guilt because he had to do things that were not clean for far to long before he could make it right.

Faye is the towns librarian.. already I love her because hello BOOKS. :-) But she is a heck of a strong character, she might seem hesitant or shy, but when it comes right down to it she is a force to be reckoned with.

“Faye, darlin’, I want you to hear this and get it, what you just gave me was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever been given in…my…life…With me, anytime, anywhere, you’re safe. But of the anytime and anyplace you’re with me, the place you’re safest is right here, in my bed…”

Faye and Chase together.. Omg Swoon worthy, I tell you he is so perfect for her even if he fights it a little but Faye is ready and when she has something in her sights oh boy look out. Love this so much

“Do you love me?”
“Yes,” I breathed…
“Always?”…
“Always.”

So over all I loved this book, it took sometime but that’s ok because not everything should be easy. ;)

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Wow! Just Wow! I'm in love with this series!

OK, yes, I have fallen for this series! Can't wait for more. Please Audible more, and don't change up on the Narrator. That would not be good at this point. Emma Taylor, you rock girl. If you haven't listened to this little hidden jewel of a series then just get it! That's all I can say! Wish I could give it 10 stars.

Every woman's dream

Where does Breathe rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks about in the middle of my listening experience.. I have listened to hundreds of the audible books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Breathe?

When the boy, Miah, bonded with Chace and Faye.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Chace's woman was buried in the ground, and he was digging her up.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the boy they had saved when he was younger was graduating high school. The speech he gave to the audience with all the thanks, love and respect he gave to Chace and Faye.

Any additional comments?

Kristen Ashley's books are good and entertaining. But I believe they would be even better if the word f......k was not used so much.

Boring

Any additional comments?

The book was too long and the narration too slow. The main woman character was too sweet and only once when Chase said we are taking a break did she seem like she migh show some real depth of character. I speeded up the naration and only slowed down when the parts seemed interesting
