Summary

Jared Kushner was one of the most consequential presidential advisers in modern history. For the first time, he recounts what happened behind closed doors during the Trump presidency.

Few White House advisors have had such an expansive portfolio or constant access to the president. From his office next to Trump, senior adviser Jared Kushner operated quietly behind the scenes, preferring to leave the turf wars and television sparring to others.

Now, Kushner finally tells his story—a fast-paced and surprisingly candid account of how an earnest businessman with no political ambitions found himself pulled into a presidency that no one saw coming.

Breaking History takes listeners inside debates in the Oval Office, double-crosses at the United Nations, tense meetings in Arab palaces, high-stakes negotiations, and the daily barrage of leaks, false allegations, investigations, and West Wing infighting.

A true historical thriller, this book is not your typical political memoir. Kushner details Washington's intense resistance to change and reveals how he broke through the stalemates of the past. An outsider among outsiders, Kushner was a results-driven executive among beltway power brokers. He questioned old assumptions and delivered unprecedented results on trade, criminal justice reform, production of COVID-19 vaccines, and Middle East peace. His successful negotiation of the Abraham Accords, the most significant diplomatic breakthrough in 50 years, earned him a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Written by one of the few people by Trump's side from his trip down the golden escalator to his final departure from Andrews Air Force Base, Breaking History provides the most honest, nuanced, and definitive understanding of a presidency that will be studied for generations.

*****

"Now 41, Kushner was involved in brokering Trump's US-Mexico-Canada trade agreement and drafting and passing the 2018 First Step Act that included prison and criminal sentencing reforms. He helped lead the White House COVID-19 response in 2020 and led efforts to broker diplomatic relations between Israel and four Arab countries during the final months of Trump's term."—New York Post

What a truly great book, and man, but….

Whole thing is stunning, even brought a tear or two.

I had the good fortune to be in Sweden for Covid, where the Covid narrative was essentially irrelevant as it was to many African nations who fared best.

What a profound lesson for all of us that someone *this* utterly brilliant could have been triggered by such an insignificant false premise and poured his enormous powers, vast swathes of industry and $Trillions of waste into it and never once stop to question the basic axiom:

Should we be doing any of this for an ordinary flu bug where the provenly best response for public health, for medical best practice, for the economy and for democracy WAS TO DO NOTHING out of the ordinary!?

Spellbinding Insight in a White House of Outsiders

Really liked this book. I came around 180 on Trump in the second year of his presidency. I just had enough of the media histrionics and started to look at the actual policy, that was conducted while ignoring the silly POTUS45 tweets. And laugh at those that were funny. Jared Kushner's book seems like an honest-as-can-be-expected account of the Trump son-in-law's experiences and accomplishments during the Trump presidency. I like Kushner - and I appreciate the Trump presidency more and more, looking back. Hardcore Lefties should avoid this book at all costs as it will not be expedient to be forced to realise that anyone in the Trump Administration were actually a mensch or even a human being.

Excellent listen.

Fascinating journey through the Trump presidency and all the amazing achievements despite the unprecedented racket of the Dems and counter-intention of some apparent trump supporters on his team. loved this book.

The world needs more people like Kusher

Stock upon barf bags

This is an awful unreflective self-serving memoir. Even Trump lovers ought to have a hard time swallowing the skewed narrative of this volume. If the idea of claiming value in negotiations has ever been on your radar - you will hear loud alarms go off as you listen to this fictional fantasy.

A real “behind the scenes.”

A very intriguing look inside the Trump White House. So few media outlets covered the successes of the Trump Administration. It was nice to hear how these successes came about without the noise and distractions of the critics.

The book makes it clear how incredibly difficult it is for Washington Outsiders to find their way thru the sludge but this is an absolute textbook for any other outsiders who are willing to try!!!

JD’s candidness of his own families struggles was heartfelt and real! This book is so genuine and it’s clear that the Kushner’s are true American Patriots!!!

Informative and engaging!

I found the information shared in this book to be incredibly interesting. To be a fly on the wall in some of the most amazing places becomes a realized dream.
I’ve read some of the bad reviews and I am guessing those who wrote those were already against anything related to Trump. Sad, because if you really hear what this author is saying you might be inspired to see what you can do to make the world a better place. We need that. All of us working together. We really need that.

Insightful, Sincere, informative.

A fantastic story of the real Jared Kushner, Donald Trump, and the unwavering resolve of an administration dealt such adversity from the media and political establishment.

Braking history

Kushner is disrespectful by continually referring to him as “Trump” and not “President Trump”. Kushner would not have been in the Trump admin without being married to Ivanka. Kushner is a narcissistic ego maniac. He tried to take credit for things that he may have helped work on vs led. I’m a big Trump supporter, ie the President, Don Jr., Eric, Lara and Ivanka. Sorry but Kushner comes across as creepy to me like Lurch in the Addams family. Doesn’t seem to talk a lot. I only got this book to try and gain insight into President Trump. What’s Kushner doing now? I recommend Kellyanne Conways book over this one. Kushner’s insight on the 2020 election is pure bs. Bill Stepien did nothing to get Trump re elected along with Kushner. Election and voter integrity? Looking forward to 2022 mid term elections? Did Biden even visit AZ? Fox is fixed news. It’s fuxed. Kushner should have read this book himself. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

18 hour Resume

This book was a joke. The whole thing was about how Jared is a golden boy and he saved the day every time. He loves complimenting himself on jobs. He gives a very narrow view of what was happening in the White House during his time there. The story line became laughable half way through the book. There was a problem and Jared came in to save the day.

A first hand journal of brokering Middle East peace deals

Jared will be remembered as the main drive behind the Middle East reconciliations and prosperities. The chaos in the Middle East was man-made and was there for the warmongers and profiteers, and its perpetual wars and conflicts made it easy to exploit the resources in and around the region by both the west and east nations. The peace deals proved that the Middle East can settle by itself, and will form a strong coalition to confront decades of explorations and infiltrations by the other countries.
