I canny with the voices I laughed so hard at the guy’s accent, especially when he spoke as Lou I honestly shook. Other than the voices, these books have some howlers in. I love these books but I mostly read them to escape the harrowing voice audio. So excited for the third book this summer. Would definitely recommend this series

My heart is ruined, what an emotional roller coaster this book has been. So much love, laughter and heartache... Lou continues to do whatever it takes to protect the ones she loves while Reid has shown massive growth in accepting that he is a witch.
I’ll admit my heart died in this book, I saw the signs but I didn’t want to accept it... I still don’t... I need book 3 already.

I love the narration of this book as I did the last, both narrators really brought the characters and story to life.

Emotional Roller coaster.

Like others, I found the male narrator quite distracting, pausing every few words (and not at natural pauses in speech). I can only assume he was going for the constipated effect to reflect Reid’s barely controlled anger, but for me it fell flat. Though it was far less distracting than Claud Devereaux’s perplexing accent (an almost-perfect imitation of Russel Brand). I assumed I’d missed a narrative description of his accent or background, but in the female narration he didn’t have much of an accent at all.

Narration aside, the story picked up with more speed from the get-go. I liked the slow burn of the first book and we get some of this here but this book is more plot-focused. I thought Reid’s moral struggles were quite realistic, but not too much so. I’ve read other books where the characters’ decisions and development are so back-and-forth that it becomes almost too frustrating to read so I was pleasantly surprised that here it all felt believable but also enjoyable.

The book is a massive let down compared to the first one. The plot is weak and the characters act noting like themselves. The twists are obvious and the entire story is boring. However, the ending is enough to make me give the third one a chance.
Also the narration is awful at times. It literally sounds like he has a speech impairment..

This book put me in a reading slump

I’m so perplexed at the narration of this book -the main characters are American, the setting appears to be France but the locals all come with Cockney (London) accents? Probably the only entertaining thing about this book to be honest. I nearly DNFd it on several occasions; the plot is boring and the characters have no depth. Won’t be reading the third book.
