Not bad & not good

First off the narrator was utterly boring, more like a drone, no emphasis, strange voice-overs for other characters, I enjoyed the story line until I realised most chapters are filled with book one, family history, each book fills up even more family history as the stories go. If you read book 3 you would not miss anything from book one! There is no continuity with these books.

Each book has a different story with some new characters joining in but they need more than one narrator for this many books.

I would have enjoyed them more if the thoughts & suggestions wasn't repeated in every book, you can say the same thing in many different ways!

The very worst thing was the narrator - no offence Holly but please put some emphasis & feelings into it, this is what has spoilt listening to these books.

I've yet to make up my mind as to whether I want to continue with this series or not, although I'm NOT a quitter!

As one other listener said some facts are off kilter, the girls not being properly prepared or not having tuned their skills or using them improperly, I did notice these anomalies as well but was trying my utmost to get to the end without falling asleep, which happened on several occasions!

Disappointment

The story started kind of ok. But by the 3rd book the storyline became so messed up and confusing. There was nothing magical or mystical in the first 3 books, just some romance and murder mystery. Then suddenly the main characters develope weird abilities, which are poorly explained. I don't know how to feel about this story, mainly confused, pissed off by Overton ( i guess the only consistent character which disappeared at some point, and popped up out of nowhere), and more confused. i can't imagine going through all 9 books that are available at the moment. The story arcs are poorly constructed, do not link with each other, the characters are not fully developed, the mysteries are not logical and author just cuts the story in middle and adds epilogue where she explains everything just to make sense, but that is so lame. The language becomes repetitive. I would not recommend this book for any genre it tries to fit in: romance-0, mystery-0, fantasy-0.

Juvenile

I don’t expect much from cozy mysteries. Light listening. Easy listening.

This series was banal. I checked to see if it was for children, which is where it should be.
The “witch” theme was not used much until book 3, and then only slightly. The writing was so simplistic it made me cringe.

The narrator was fair, even the best of narration couldn’t add much to the drivel.

Easy to get into

The books were easy to listen to, i got into as if I was there with them. I absolutly loved this set of books. The narrator cracks me up with some of her man voices.

I wasn’t in the right mindset to love this more

Not every book is for everyone. I completely understand my likes versus someone else’s so with that... I enjoy cozy mysteries but this is closer to a grown up Scooby Doo series. I’m not hating, just wished I was prepared for it. I wasn’t prepared!! If you are a details person this will drive you crazy. I did roll my eyes a lot and tried to just have fun with it but sometimes that was really hard.. I didn’t hate this series, please don’t think that. I was entertained on some level and I even played along, adding my own “and I would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for you adults and that meddling cat!”
I don’t want to spoil anything (not that it was ever fresh..) but a secret treasure hunting group that has to rent or buy equipment on site?Really?
I was a little surprised by a plot twist on one and laughed cause it was so far fetched. Seriously they went back to Dixie’s hotel, after the final clash???? Okay...
BellaDonna is the smartest one in the bunch. She’s possibly related to Dexter on HBO. Love her!!
Seriously some of these bad guys names are straight out of Austin Powers or Scooby Doo... The only thing that makes this worth sticking it out is Hollis McCarthy. Bless her she had her work cut out for her with this series and she delivered. I never would have listened if it weren’t for her. Fun listening game, eat a piece of chocolate every time they say the word “Key” :)

Blackmailed Sisters Cozy Mysteries Box Set Books 1=5

I really enjoyed this set. A lot of action and mystery. The only thing I had a problem with was the loud inhalation through out the reading.

Five fun books, great stories

These 5 books were fun to listen to, and I hope there will be more! The characters are developed well, and each story has its own twist (especially book 5). The narrator could differentiate voices more for each of the four girls, but I understand that is hard to do and keep up throughout. I love Bella and hope there's more about her in future books, too.
